With the new OMJ ROM, I don't seem to have anything in any settings menu that says Today anymore. I remember the one you are talking about in the stock Sprint ROM, but I can't find it now. Thanks!
EDIT: OK, found it under Settings/Home Icon/arrow right to Items. Cookie now installed!
Thanks!

I'm using 23557 w/o Cookie mod cooked in. (I added CAB) My voice dialing does not work now and I don't have an option anywhere to choose it as send button item or even set it up.
Also, I don't seem to have speed dial capability anymore either.
Anyone else have this problem?

Just wondering, is there any easier way to edit your contacts? mine are a mess and I'd like to organize them a little better, but it's time consuming using the phone itself, I remember when I had my blackberry I could pull the contact file off the phone and use my desktop and then re-write it, anyone have any ideas

You can use ActiveSync to sync your contacts with you computer (using Outlook) and then edit using your computer and sync again to apply the changes to the phone.

I have all of my contacts in my google account and I edit them in gmail on my computer. The reason I did this so in case anything happens to my computer or phone I'll always have a copy of my contacts on my google account and will make the move to android easier since google wants everything done through them. I would look into using google to arrange and save your contacts.

Hi Tom and OMJ,
Yeah, I'm having the same problem. I really like the newest rom 23557 but I have lost the Voice Command function and can't find it in setting either. I even loaded 23557 in the kitchen but I couldn't find an option to turn on Voice Control. I'd be very grateful if OMJ or someone could help us out on how to include that capability.
I couldn't get voice search to work on either the new Google Maps or Bing. Other than that, it seems like a great rom.
OMJ, thanks for the great new rom and updated kitchen!
Brad
P.S. I'm reluctant to give up my great legacy plan but most likely going to take the bait and jump on the Evo when it comes out. It's sounds like a fantastic phone but I feel spoiled right now with OMJ's rom and kitchen...like I'll be lost in the dark wilderness of Android when I make the jump....does anyone else have that concern?

Syncing with a google would be real handy but every time I wanted to take the plunge, I thought it was a long drawn process and involved a bit of risk, so never did it.

I finally ended up having to do it in order to get my contacts on my phone when I installed Android on the Diamond. It was a bit of a pain on the WM side, I had a few issues, especially with the "Domain" field but I finally got it done. Once on the Android side it was seamless, of course.

Syncing to your google account is simple. You just set up activesync with your google information and make sure you check off contacts. Ive used it since day 1 and its always worked great. Hotmail contact syncing is a bit nicer though, because it will actually save all your fav people and put them back when you resync.

Sorry OMJ, but I had to roll back to previous ROM, with Cookie's 1.6.0. Besides losing all voice command capability, I ended up in lock screen hell with a white box that covered the bottom half of the screen, and an unlock button on the bottom that alternated with an unlock button in the top task bar. One would trigger the other and it would never truly unlock. It's a shame. I really liked having all the info visible on the lock screen with just a little slider on the bottom. Please see what you can do with 23557. I've gotta have voice command because cell phone use without a handsfree device is now illegal in Hawaii. (BTW, I got the new Jawbone Icon and it reads the calling number too me, so I can screen calls without looking!)

Once again, Ken, I certainly appreciate all your hard work. It has made my TD very pleasant to use while we all breathlessly wait for the EVO.

Hey Tom ... I've been running a 21895 rom that I cooked in Ken's kitchen, and it's flawless. I prefer to install Co0kie 1.71 via cab, rather than cook it in. You should give it a try ...

ps -- it's illegal here in California, as well.

Hi wmdunn... I love Cookie's mods, but the lockscreen that he added between 1.6 and 1.7 seems to be a problem with mine.

I haven't posted in a long time because, honestly, this is the best my phone has run since I bought it. But I am finding an odd quirk that I have no idea how to troubleshoot.

I got my wife an iPad a couple weeks ago, and occasionally when we go out to someplace that doesn't have free wifi (which is surprisingly rare these days), I'll just fire up wifisharing on my phone and have her use that.

The problem is that, even after I turn it off, it seems I'm still broadcasting. And strangely, it even persists past a soft reset. We had a power outage and my wife had to reconnect her desktop to our home wireless, and she noticed that wifisharing was broadcasting, even though I didn't have it running (and had even soft reset my phone earlier due to a freeze).

I don't think it actually works unless I'm running the app, but as far as the phone is concerned my wifi radio should is supposed to be off, and it's obviously not. Any ideas?

Weird aside: When this happens, if I try to connect to a wifi network from my phone, it will default to connecting to wifisharing, which just makes my head explode.

Not possible.
You can only assign the long-press send/green-phone key.
Settings;Personal;Buttons- select VoiceCommand. TADA!

OMJ usually makes a generic rom, and leaves out those items that occasionally require updating or personal preference. You will need to add them ...

I've been doing the same thing with my phone using Stock rom and wifi sharing added. On my ipad, it shows the wifi still connected with the phone wifisharing turned off.

I think this is because the wifisharing app uses wifi in ad-hoc mode (peer-to-peer). When windows PCs hook up to other windows PCs in ad-hoc mode, they actually retain the wifi setup for that peer-to-peer setup. They actually broadcast the ad-hoc mode that they are connected to, so they can reconnect directly. That's why you sometimes when you are traveling, you can see Wifi Access points and also some people's wifi pcs. I think the iPad is doing something similar.

It isn't really connected to the wifirouter app, it is broadcasting to try and maintain the connection or so that the wifi router can connect to it.

Anyway.. the way I disconnect the iPad is to go to settings and turn wifi off and then back on again and it stops doing this. Not sure if there is another way around it. The Diamond is definitely not broadcasting anymore though.

Interesting, so when my wife saw the network show up on her desktop, it was actually coming from the iPad and not my phone? Good to know, I guess.

And there it is... Voila: the perfect ROM. Voice dialing is back, in fact I discovered I can get it to announce my reminders through my Jawbone. I like the new Co0kie 1.7.1, but there is a small bug with a white box that covers the lower half of the screen if you select the "Show Call History" radio button. After many resets, I got rid of it. It's not necessary anyway, the calls show up in place of your appointment item. I like the way the new lockscreen works and like being able to move things around a lot on the home screen. My advice: mess with the quick links all you want, and try enabling the CHT lockscreen, just stay the hell away from that one Call History selection!

Everything is working just fine and I'm a happy dude! Thanks, Ken!

Any way to have the phone look for an cell tower every X number of minutes? As it is now if I am in certain places in work my battery gets run down very quickly because the phone keeps searching for a cell tower. I'd rather not have to put it in airplane mode constantly....

I'm a noob at all this. But each time I flash a new rom it takes me hours to customize all my settings and add all my cabs, etc. I'm reading about SASHIMI 8, is that the best software/application/version to use to minimize the setup time after a flash? Thanks for any advice.
