Great. testing this since the morning. will let you know how it goes. Thanks alot Smiznith! by they way, nice concept with this. frankly I am starting to think the newer opera versions are less stable than the older ones.

here are a couple pics. Nice to have an old school working dialer as well as having the original tf for a change of pace! really only things I would add is the clear top bar since this will make other wallpapers look better with bg4all.

I am not sure if this can fit into any of your plans but can you do a titanium only version?

I think it runs great and is exactly what you set out to do. a stock feel with updated sys. I gotta tell you, the old tf program tab is better, stops exactly when the next page of icons appears. forgot how nice that was!

Well it's locked and loaded.

Everything runs smoothly and quick just how I want it however it would be great if there was a generic rom that had all the sprint stuff removed. I'm on the telus network and all the sprint apps keep tossing up errors.

Otherwise it's the perfect rom for someone like me that's after just a simple stock rom with tweaks to make it damn near perfect!

icedSTOCK Generic Rom v1.2

slmclarengt 11-19-2009 03:06 PM

Re: icedSTOCK v1.1 23088 & 21876

Hey I decided to randomly give this ROM a shot. I flashed directly from Calkulin's. Is there anyway to get the "my location" weather as well as customizable cities (because I've got a couple I like to check that are not included)?

Here are the things I care about in a ROM:
Stability, Reliability and Good speed (relative because it's Windows Mobile on a Diamond :-\)
Google Calendar syncing without Activesync bothering me every minute that 'the server needs to update'
Gmail imap being pushed consistently
Weather allow me to use custom cities + My Location
Phone features must work simply and reliably (calls and texts need to work without glitches)
I would prefer the original Diamond keyboard (I cannot stand the new ones, the old one worked fine)

Is this possible from this ROM or are there other ROMs I could use?

Great ROM!

Slm

Booting the generic one now! Will post impressions a bit later once I'm all re-synced up and have used it a few times.

I may be able to do that, or you can cook one with calku's rom. The VK is very simple and i can gladly help you out if you like. I will look into those things this weekend when i get some time..

Everytime I have cooked my own ROMs, they are glitchy or do not work at all. It seems to be common that all of my own ROMs refuse to load "settings" among many other problems. But I'll maybe try again and again until I make the right combination that just works and works well, yet the many times I have tried this approach various problems arise.

Slm

P.S. This ROM would be even better if it were not screwy probably thanks to it being Windows Mobile + did not flash to stock first + my phone and I have never been on good terms. I'll say it frankly, if I were dying, I would not have much faith in my phone working enough to save my life (calling 911); hell it'd probably die before me...

oh believe me bro, it took me FOREVER to get a rom that worked. actually i had to wait till calk dropped his VK which is very user friendly and i read and follow indagroove who gives a lot of info at www.everythingdiamond.info

With my rom you dont have to flash stock. Let me play with some stuff and i will upload a new one tomorrow. you can be my beta tester! :D

also if stock is not for you, try my other rom it is FLAWLESS!!!! http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=75432

Re: icedSTOCK v1.1 23088 & 21876

So I've been using this since the flash yesterday and I have to say thanks, it's pretty much exactly what I've been hunting for in a rom!

Only four issues that I've come across so far, two minor and two major. :)

Major:
When you have the dialer (keypad) open to make a call and select the contacts button it opens the phone finger configuration menu instead of contacts.

While on a call if you press the keypad button it opens what I'm to assume is the call opens (enable speaker phone, mute ect...) instead of the keypad.

Minor:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/10...w/Screen02.png
Just the semi transperant grey behind the icons has a gap in the middle... Nothing a person can't just live with but figured I'd point it out.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/10...w/Screen04.png
Landscape mode is a little glitchy, not a huge deal to me but others that use landscape mode heavily might speak up about it. :)

Hopefully you are able to make adjustments on this otherwise it's almost a perfect "stock" rom! Side note, can you recommend the best tweak to install to remove tabs in this build? I like to nuke out the people tab and used to just do it with the "advanced configuration tool", would that still work on your rom?

Thanks again for all the work.

smiznith 11-21-2009 01:46 AM

Re: icedSTOCK v1.1 23088 & 21876

thanks for the screen shots! ok the grey spot you say is a gap is actually the background...

The dialpad, i am working on now.. not sure why it is doing that but hopefully will be cured soon (looks like a reg issue/6.5.x issue)

yeah the advanced config should work just fine in this rom.. try it and let me know.. if it doesnt ill cook it in.

look for an update in a day or so...

Wow, the moment you said that I looked at the phone and yes, your correct. It was like an eye puzzle to me but now I clearly see that it's part of the background. :D

Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3 does remove the un-needed tabs.

I eagerly await the results of the edits to get the contacts and keypad buttons working. Again, thanks for all the work. The phone will be in heavy use over the next few days and if I come across anything else I'll let you know.
