I've worked in the industry for 15 years, I suppose you can make the signal say whatever you want in the user interface. Usually either 5 or 7 bars depending on how wide you like your graphics in your user interface...

Actually there is a secret registry edit that improves your signal strength. More specifically, it is a particular combination of registry edits done in a certain order. Mike and I have been working together on this for the past few weeks, but had agreed not to share the information. Sorry.
