Well, went ahead and did the hard reset - no joy. Still won't connect with USB, bootloader still only says serial.

Any other ideas?

It was said earlier, flash stock from internal:

Download stock "ship" rom. Extract the RUU_signed.nbh from the exe with winrar. Put that .nbh file on the root directory of your internal storage. Flash that rom from internal (power, vol down, back arrow, reset button). This will flash you back to stock everything, and should fix your problem (unless it's hardware related).

So, update time. I updated the ROM from the internal storage, went fine, but alas, no joy on the USB connection. I think it may be a hardware issue, and my replacement is already on the way. Thanks everyone!
