It will be much easier to flash to a non-Manila ROM like one of the new WM6.5 ROMs.
If you really want to try, all the files are in \Windows. Search for files called "********_manila" where *=any hex character. Looks like there's around 1400 of them. :(

i dare not leave mighty sorry lol, and ill just delete all the manila files cause i have no use anymore

Possible ringtone fix...?

I had the ringtone problem twice with a previous flash of MR 4.8... I haven't had it in about a week now.

But when I had the problem... I found that un-installing the black S2A fixed it (I would now ring again). Then I re-installed the black S2A and it was fine for a few days, but the problem came back. So again, I un-installed the black S2A and my ringer started to work. I put the black S2A back on with no further problems for a day or two, then I flashed again for an un-related issue I was having.

Anyhow... I haven't had this problem come back since the last flash (four days ago), I just wanted to share this in case you are having the same problem I was having.

dex

Hmm interesting find. This could solve a lot. :headbang: Now all we need is just Mike to update the ROM if this is truly the issue.

Cleveland....480x640

Stoney, the comment Pixel was talking about from Mike, came before Whatsleft4her offer to give up is former Diamond to Mike. I think.

Ringtone problem...still dont have one, I use mp3's, amr, and stock tones and experience no problems, my wife on the other hand loses her ringtone daily. The conversion "fix" isnt a fix in my mind, its a bandaid. A winmo phone should have no problems playing every type of sound format supported by the Diamond, and untiil it plays them all without fail, its not fixed.

And to all who who preach patience with Mike....Word!

Go to post 7320, and you'll see the first quote he was referring to was from cesium. That's what I was referring to.

Oh, so we were saying the same thing...just pointing out Whatsleft4her was the one talking about donating the Diamond. I didnt read it that way at first. I gotcha now.

I understand. It was tough, but I'm trying out other stuff until MR5 drops.
A difficult decision, and I may end up going back to 4.8 if I can't get something that works for me.
Right now I'm using MysteryROM3. I'm going to try INTX's rom and maybe one of my own creations from a kitchen or two.
Hopefully by the time I'm done experimenting I'll either have something that's just right or Mike will have dropped 5.x.

Hope you don't mind if I let you do the grunt work of trying out new ROM's, but could you post your results for the rest of us? Until I see some signs of life in this thread from Mike (aside from the one "please stand by" post a week we get now, I am assuming that I will have to move to another ROM if I ever want to see WM6.5.

All I could ever want for my phone is to have the ringer fixed, and then my phone would be the cats *** of phones. So MIKE WE ARE BEGGING YOU PLEASE oh PLEASE can you fix the ringer on 4.8 and i think you would make a lot of ppl happy and they would stop complaining because you could call 4.8 final and it wouldnt even matter if you ever droped a diamond release again because 4.8 would be just about as good as this phone can get and trust me you would be making LOTS of pple happy. Thanks mike for everything you have done for us!!!

I'm slightly suspicious that you haven't converted the ring tone as you describe. Surprisingly, about half the rings in the rings folder are WMA files that aren't going to work (of course, you can't see that (file formats)on the phone, but you can in windows explorer when in active sync). I know cuz I tried to use one and it didn't work until I changed it to a WAV format. I think I read somewhere that the rings as they come from HTC/sprint are all wavs, but what is referred to as stock/shipped are actually someones cooked roms as they come in RAR format. A truly shipped or stock rom is going to be a .EXE file. My understanding is the the MR ROM is based from culc's kitchen as are a number of the other ROMS, most of which are having the same problem.

I try to ignore... but I can't.
For many people, myself included, wma files work fine for ringtones. I convert all my ringtone files to wma. The WAV format takes up way too much space and provides more fidelity than a listener using the Diamond's speaker will ever be able to differentiate.
I can see all of my file format/extensions by using TotalCommander or RescoExplorer. Just like on your PC, there is a checkbox to indicate that you want to do so.
The new Sprint Shipped ROM is an exe file. If you are using a RARed file, it's probably the Stock ROM which won't help you much (A lot of stuff stripped out of it). The link goes to the download site where you can get the correct file. It will also install the newest radio. I use this one before flashing any of the new ROMs I'm trying out.
