Not entirely true.
I use GMail with POP3 protocols and it works fine. I tried it with IMAP4, but didn't like it. I prefer having the email left on the Google server when I delete them from my device.
You do have to make sure that your settings on GMail are correctly set for whichever protocol you are using.
I did have some issues with sending email briefly- but they seemed to go away and now it all works fine.

phone locks up everytime after clicking on the XT9 icon in the programs folder.

everytime i reset, outlook mail settings have me to reset my user login name, its always reset to my actual name, not my email address. and it keeps downloading the tips and tricks that i keep deleting. it wont stop displaying it.

Thanks for letting me know that Trident. I read earlier in this thread about how Gmail wasn't being set up properly with 4.2 and how when it tries to auto-detect settings for Gmail it sets them up wrong. Someone said to let it do that and then go back and change the settings yourself. I went to my gmail and followed the setup instructions on there and send/receive are working with no problems. its more of a case of the auto-setup being wrong i guess, rather than the protocol you choose.

Just checked on mine...running 4.2 and does not lock up.
while I was there I added a few choice words that I know i'll be using.

anyone else having problems adding contacts with photos embedded through outlook to the people tab for the favorite quick dial? Every time i try to add a contact with a photo already, it restarts tf3d and doesn't save that contact on the people tab.

4.2 is soooo fast my only issue is the No ringing bug. I've given up on trying to use the white sprint clock because no one seems to have a fix for the scrolling issue. Can someone PLEASE tell me what reg edit I need to make the phone go to sleep while on a call. I keep hitting hold with my cheek and my girlfriend is going to beat me if I "hang up" on her again. Please save my relationship and help a brother out!!!
