OK, this email send thing is turning into a serious issue for me.

I have worked since the release was dropped last night on getting email to connect to my Internet email provider for sending and receiviong emails. Always worked on previous releases (even though the auto-config was broken in the previous 4.x series, I could manually set it up).

So here's the deal--I can receive but not send. I keep getting ther standard pop-up that says it couldn't send my email and to check coverage and setup. I also get a Synchronization Error message at the bottom of the screen.

So I need some serious advice to help get this working or I am going to have to go back to a previous release. Which will seriously p*ss me off that you guys are on 4.6 and I am stuck on a previuos release. :-) So help me out, brothers!

It would probably help if you specified which email provider you use...

I'm gonna try and guess...

incoming server: pop.sprintpcs.com
outgoing server: smtp.sprintpcs.com
username: your vision username (do not include the @sprintpcs.com)
password: pcsmail password (NOTE: this is not your account, vision, picturemail, vc, vm, password. this is another password. set it at www.sprintpcs.com > online tools > pcsmail > settings and preferences > setup > new password; or call in and tech support will set it for you)

make sure that "outgoing server requires authentication" is checkmarked and that it has the same username and password. there are no SSL or any other settings. these will be the same settings for eudora or any other email client.

I am using USA.NET and yes, I have done all that you stated. Understand that this release is the first one (and I have been running MightyROMs since 3.8 ) that I cannot get send mail to work. I'm still working at it and have also contacted usa.net to see if they are having smtp server issues.

Thanks for giving me a double-check that I have covered everything I should have.

As I am sure there are other users of this provider, and you seem to be the only one have this issue, I have a feeling its something silly like a typo a comma instead of a period, or stmp.

For me, the auto-config was only broken in ONE version of the 4.x series, but it was an easy manual fix (for gmail anyway). My mail is working properly under 4.6.

I was thinking the auto-config was broken in more than one release, but as you said, it was no big deal because manual config was so easy.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's not a typo in the account info because I can get mail fine, and use the same settings option to send mail. So a typo would cause both send and receive to fail. But I'll keep at it (I'm very stubborn....LOL). Thanks for trying to help me out!

just set up email forwarding online with your USA.net.. .sign up for a gmail account (excellent spam protection by the way..better than what ya have now)...And then set up your phone to check your GMAIL.. via IMAP...that is if your USA.net has email forwarding. it should. Try it man. It's worth a shot. and you'll love gmail.
