New UNLOCKABLE Sprint ROM?
 

Guys, just got a Sprint Diamond. Ran the unlocker, and it never asks me on the phone to go to run the bootloader. I see the tri-color screen with SSPL0.43.CMONEX, but then the update utility exits with an error. The phone never resets, so I reset it, and go in to bootloader and it is the locked bootloader. :scratch::scratch::scratch:

Any ideas? i've unlocked other diamonds...

What was the error

If your in bootloader you should be able to run the Diamond Unlocker
RomUpdateUtility

The error is: When the tri-color bootloader starts on the diamond, the activesync/device is lost from my pc. Then I get "ERROR: 260 Connection" saying that my device is not connected.

I also get ERROR 266, "Cannot get response from PDA Phone". all the while the phone is frozen on the SSPL0.43.CMONEX tricolor screen. ?!?!?!

CONFIRMED! Sprint Diamond ROM 1.09 does not allow unlocking using current techniques. It boots the phone from it's PC connection. I was not even able to downgrade to sprint's stock ROM.

I tried it on another computer, and I had success with another diamond.

I had the same issue with my Diamond and just ran the update in bootloader mode and it applied fine. I got my diamond on the 25th if that makes a difference.

read the unlocker thread. there are instructions on there for users who have difficulty unlocking.

I have a Sprint Touch Diamond and tried to unlock it using the "Diamond Unlocker". It fails every time with ERROR 262: UPDATE ERROR. I've run the unlock *both* in the WM 6.1 UI and in bootloader mode (hold down power + Volume down buttons as it boots).

Despite ROM updates failing, the bootloader tells me my phone is "Security Unlocked".

Yet, I can't install any of the ROMs out there! E.g., I want to use Juicy 2.1 Sprint but it fails with that same 262 error in either the WM UI or bootloader.

Can someone tell me how to get another ROM on my Sprint Touch Diamond???

BTW: I should mention I just checked to see if my Diamond is _really_ unlocked and it's not because the SPL-0.57.0000 is showing up in bootloader. ](*,)

Looks like the Diamond never gets unlocked because of the 262 error I mentioned earlier... so the question goes back to: how do I unlock my Sprint Touch Diamond? I've tried everything folks have said on this forum. Running it in bootloader doesn't work for me.

I just unlocked mines that had a 1.09 rom. what are you talking about?

Just because you can't seem to unlock it, doesn't mean that it is not possible.

Try giving more information like:
What version of windows?
32 or 64 bit?
When's the last time you ran Windows Update?
Did you try putting it in bootloader while connected to the computer and give it time to install any drivers?

This might sound silly, but make sure to connect in "ActiveSync" and not USB Drive mode.

Is there an official update to 1.09 Sprint ROM, anyone got a link?

EDIT: NVM, my unit shows 1.06 at boot, but under device info it's 1.09.651.5

You can try starting bootloader manually..

no there is not. there isnt a new rom this user is just doing something incorrectly.

I'm not sure if you can unlock FROM bootloader though. So although they can put it in bootloader, and allow the drivers to install if neccessary, it may be required to go back to an activesync connection because of the SSPL, not sure though.

i believe your correct. in order to flash the hard spl, SSPL has to initiate the proses. this can be done via active sync or manually running SSPL on your device.

After looking at my unit after using the TC stock sprint rom, I noticed it's 1.06.

I do know that 1.93.xxxx+ are GSM.. Perhaps the OP is trying to unlock a GSM version of the phone?

I have the same problem as hagen above. I am running Vista [32] Home.. Rom Version 1.09.651.5:: Rom Date 08/04/08 Radio Version 1.00.00F.

I am not sure if I have read the answer to unlocking but I dont know how to disable advanced networking???

this does not seem right.

August 4th 08 is still before they released the diamond to sprint. the rom was developed before the unlocker was out.

Mine's running the same ROM. 1.09.651.5. Unlocked without any issue whatsoever.

wow...i have the same version as u and i bought mine straight off of sprint telesales. everything is exactly the same for me, even down to the error code, i will try the download link posted on here to see if i get any luck from it.

This reminds me of basic troubleshooting.. I always ask if the person paid their DSL bill before I go out and troubleshoot their internet connection. :P

(typical second question while troubleshooting: .. is the unit plugged in and did you turn it on? .. hehe happened more than once ..)

I try the above links and NO LUCK here either, I do not get bootloader on my phone no matter what ..this sux..

Yes I am going threw the same issue as a lot of the other guys! Someone make a youtube video lol, trying to unlock this phone to flash a rom is not working I tried everything listed above and no workie :(

Here's an idea:
For those of you who are having trouble with the unlocking, post what version of windows you're using, and then retype (don't just copy / paste) the exact steps you followed to unlock. That way we might be able to help you beyond "this doesn't work".

Good Idea..
1-Win XP
2-Unlocker drag from winrar to desktop in a folder by itself.
3-Click on diamond unlocker..
4-suddenly like 6 new files in the same folder.
5 I accept conditions, ect connection to PDA stablished ect. NEXT
6- verifying information on you phone wait = Image version 1.09.651.5
7- Select from bellow = I click update RomVersion Image version 1.57 Diamond
8 -you are ready to update = process could take up to 10 minutes...
ERROR 202 CONNECTION.....BS I could get into my phone via sync, the green icon is light up..
Still Nothing...](*,)
