[Android GSM/CDMA][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
So guys, I didn't want you to wait more days so I am just releasing current state. So far this build seems to be the one I will work on as it runs fast.
My wife's sitting in my neck last days cause I was sitting too much in front off my netbook. Anyone wanna help me? As I said it runs very smooth. Just try it for your own and give me feedback Important: - This release runs fast but keep in mind: When first booting it. Don't touch your device the first 10mins after it has booted into Android cause it will execute a script and do optimizations and therefore be slow. Next boots will be fast and also device will be fast. If anyone would provide me with Linpack Benchmarks I would be grateful Installation: Like the last EXT2-builds: Use my Haret-Paket. You may download latest on my Homepage. This build should work on compatible devices, too: Blackstone, Fuze, Raphael, Rhodium, Topaz, Tilt2 Installation Instructions Download latest Release here Report Bugs here Wishlist for next release UPDATE 07.06.2010: Here are the screenshots for the which were requested: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4045/...84516d340e.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4042/...08d1724f14.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4008/...b375775a65.jpg Video which shows how I run LinPack and get a result of 3.6MFLOPS. When overclocking I get 4.04MFLOPS: Video What has changed in the UPCOMING Build: - Removed ASTRO, Gallery3d and some other apps - Added AppInstaller, Linpack, Advanced Taskkiller and some other apps - Keyboard-Fix - Tweak: JIT-Enabled Dalvik VM - this & that - you will have to use an app called "Reboot Widget" for correct powerdown / reboot (go goole for it -> not included because it is not free) What does not work: Camera, GPS... Sorry guys for the delay but I am repackaging everything and adding individual startups for compatible devices. If you register on my website you may grab the latest build as soon as I've uploaded it and before I repack and republish the compatible build. |
Re: [Android][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
is this in a ROM format or does it run of the memory card? IF the later why dont we see it run off the main memory?

Note: You will have to use Linux and repartition your memory with ext2-partitions. So this will be easily flashable when someone releases a flash-method. As my Touch Diamond GSM has no sd card it runs pretty fast off of my internal memory. As you see I get about 4 MFLOPS which is a very good value when you compare it to other devices. |
Re: [Android][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
I have never installed an Android ROM. Do we just flash like we would a regular ROM?
Also, if ever wanted to revert back to the WM ROM - how easy is it? Thanks, the Android stuff is really new to me. Are there step by step instructions some where I can look up? |

I'll try it.

Re: [Android GSM/CDMA][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
I got a Kernal Panic: Rebooting in 7 seconds error. So no dice. I used the Startup from the Diamond 500 - Normal folder. It said something about sending a correct root command.

was a no go for me, tried both diamond 500 and diamond normal startups.. just reboots to windows

Seems like both of you - sorry to say this - have a problem with partitioning and / or untarring files. It should work. You may consider the thread on diamond section or the according group on my website if you need assistance.

Wow, great work! Any way to install if you don't have a computer running Linux? How is the battery life?

Re: [Android GSM/CDMA][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
has the battery issue been resolved?

Re: [Android GSM/CDMA][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
I know is says that GPS is not working, but I noticed that the latest XDAndroid drivers have GPS working for DIAM500 and I have it working on my DIAM500 running the old way with haret from external.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601751 Here's the startup.txt I'm using: set ramsize 0x0A000000 set ramaddr 0x10000000 set mtype 2040 set kernel zImage set initrd initrd.gz set cmdline "msmts_calib=0x81.0x393.0x358.0x7D msmvkeyb_toggle=off lcd.density=210 gsensor_axis=2,-1,3" boot GPS in Maps and Navigation works great and locks on fast on my Sprint Touch Diamond. But location awareness for certain things doesn't work (like the weather widget for instance) for some reason. I guess it uses a different mechanism. It's great to see a Diamond specific effort for Android. Hopefully we can get some of the buttons remapped to make use of the center button and make the functions a little more logical. Something like this: Power button: Sleep (currently Home) Home button: Home (currently Menu) Center button: Menu (currently nothing) End button: Ummm, end current task maybe? (currently Sleep) |
Re: [Android GSM/CDMA][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
yeah I also have the latest version on my diamond from the xda thread, jumping to 2.1 rather than 2.0 made an already unbearable battery life even worse, until the battery issues are straightened out I cant use it for daily use (as my day has 24 hours in it, not 4)
that being said, what are you getting for battery life, I may take a shot with your files and try the overclocking method thanks for the work though |
Re: [Android GSM/CDMA][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
New build in progress. Will release it later:
GPS works now! Check again later my website to download it if you wanna give it a go |
Re: [Android GSM/CDMA][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
Works on my Sprint CDMA DIAM500. I had to add a "set kernel zImage" line to the "startup.txt" otherwise it just restarted to windows mobile. But it works well-- faster than before now that we can do the ext2 partition. Wifi, GPS works, and 3g after adding the "Internet" APN. Thanks!
Only thing is the battery lasts about 30 seconds. (maybe 3 hours tops) |
Re: [Android GSM/CDMA][4.04MFLOPS][Download 08.06.2010]
Nice job... repartitioned Internal Storage and got it running on a DIAM500 CDMA.
The Mic and speaker don't work though... I tried the trick to boot Haret while in a call in WinMo, but when android boots, it says no service and locks up. Also, I can't change anything in Sound and Display settings - I keep getting a "not responding" error and have to force close on it. Any suggestions on how to make these work? It's awesome that GPS now works, but unless it can make calls, it's pretty much pointless. |
