Innocent question at Sprint Store = Sprint scammed themselves
1 Attachment(s)
so im out running errands most of the morning... i know im about to pass a Sprint Store/Repair Center, so i decide to go in....
about a mouth ago i dropped my phone, little to no damage, including a small "crack"(not chipped or flaking) just above my Vol Up key... well it only took a few days for this crack to chip off completely... while very ugly if i wanted to show my phone off, i have 3 TPs, so i wasnt too concerned with repair or replacing... so i swing into the store and ask to see a Tech... guy takes me right away... i show him my phone(pic below) and tell him i have TEP and wanna know if they have a TP their sending back and they'd switch the housing out for me... the dude goes to check and says they dont have any TPs back there, so id have to pay the deductable... i told him im not that interested, and figured id try my luck since i was driving by anyways... now comes the funny part.... im about to turn for the counter to walk away, and another Tech comes out and tells me to hold on... he says "im pretty sure i can replace it for you, its coming up as a Known Issue"... i couldnt help but chuckle... i broke it down for him real simple... i said let me guess its showing the Chrome Flaking Issue as the Known Issue... he said yes.. we both agreed, he even said it first, that this Obviously Wasnt Flaking, but a decent size Chip missing... i told him, im not here to scam anything, and made reference again to the hole in my phone, and that i was really just there to see if they'd switch the housing.... He says "I can replace that for you, itlll be here in 2-3 buisness days" and asked him for how much, he says " Your covered under your insurance, its FREE" So see, i clearly tried not to scam Sprint.... there is no reason why i shouldnt have to pay a deductable if i wanted the whole phone switched out.... but hey, im not gonna complain LOL im sure its refurbed, im a little nervous since ive been fortunate out of the 3 TPs i currently own, only one had any issues and it was the keyboard issue... the gave me a NIB no probs.. ive been reading plenty of positive feedback along with the negative about refurbs, so im sure itll be ok regardless... heres the pic with the chunck missin out of it..... |

Is it a real check or one of those that you can't deposit unless you sign up for something for some absurd amount of money? |

Re: Innocent question at Sprint Store = Sprint scammed themselves
technically the rep was right theres usually a deductable.but if he searches his database for known issue with the phone(which he shoulda did first)he wouldnt have had to call u back. only time u do nt have to pay a deductable at the store is if sprint delcare a phone has a issue

in all honesty, sprint probably already wrote that mere $250 off as a loss.... Its not like he called and asked for it in the wrong... sprint effed up and sent it to him... trust me the trouble he'd go thru just to get that back i wouldn't doubt for one second that even a rep woul say to keep the check. |

Re: Innocent question at Sprint Store = Sprint scammed themselves
Agreed...loved the data charges I was getting with the unlimited data plan for 3 months...Fixed now but wanted to brake some heads...Sprints fault if they want to give out money.

Re: Innocent question at Sprint Store = Sprint scammed themselves
you didnt scam ,,,,theres two parts to the TEP(Total Equipment Program),,,,one walk-in service,,,which is Service and repair(normal wear and tear and out of warranty mechanical and eletrical failures) ,,and the other Replacement Program (liquid damage or lost or stolen,,which you would pay ($50-$100) deductible...
|
Re: Innocent question at Sprint Store = Sprint scammed themselves
like I said before
just use the friggin phones! if you just use them, there are issues that companies know of. heck all you have to do is use it there is really no need to scam |
Re: Innocent question at Sprint Store = Sprint scammed themselves
Try getting charges for texts on SEP, took two months and 3 hrs on the phone to fix that. Then when they did finally fix it they reset my contract date on both phones! That took another 5 hrs on the phone.

there was nothing "normal wear and tear" about it, did u look at the pic?? and the Replacement program covers physical damage as well, ie-broken/shattered screens, busted housings, and the things u mentioned above... my phone was my fault.... it came up as a known issues, for Flaking Chrome, which my paint clearly WASNT flaking, i broke my freakin phone, its my fault and shouldve had to pay for... its cool that i dont have too, but i shouldve had to... i think they just hooked up cuz i gave them a 6.5/titanium demo in the process of all this, so they were just using any excuse to hook me up... Quote:
just leave the people alone... theyve waited quite awhile, and have yet to cash the check... would you not cash the check if sprint told you no worries??? i sure the heck would... he didnt pull a scam, hes asked the where, why, how of it all even... if you think you rates are high due to this, maybe you should start harassing the insurance/asurion scammers instead then tek... get the check cashed, you only get 90 days, like most company checks, it should state that its only valid for 90days... enjoy the $$$ |

Re: Innocent question at Sprint Store = Sprint scammed themselves
I have that same piece broken above my volume up. I'd say it is indeed a known issue (I'm not lying, it is the SAME piece)

I think the chrome rubs on the keyboard in that spot...along with some pressure from hitting the Vol Up button. Causes it to break off. Does HTC's quality control even exist? I will say the T-Mobile TP2 is built like a TANK! My brother got it...and I honestly can't wait for Sprint's to drop! |

Re: Innocent question at Sprint Store = Sprint scammed themselves
got my phone today... its a refurb obviously... aug 9th refurb date, july 20th orgin manufac date... has 20hrs of life on it lol....
they must not of liked the device and it was returned for that and not any issue is my guess... feels nice and solid when sliding, keyboard feels good, not a scratch on it......and i asked for an extra battery cover, which they gave me... they were fascinated by the dying of the back cover... which i thought was funny.. so yeah.. Sprint hooked me up, thanks Sprint lol |
