Unfair, I Want My 3G!!
 
I live in Abilene, TX and for the last four years Sprint has been telling me that we would get 3G here "soon", well it's been FOUR YEARS and still nothing. I wasn't that worried because At&T didn't have it either (Although Alltel/Verizon does)
Well yesterday a co-worker showed me his iPhone and it had the 3G signal indicated on it, I thought he hacked it to display that... so then I checked our local newspapers website and sure enough it said AT&T activates 3G in Abilene, iPhone users finally get full functionality!!!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP

So I emailed sprint and they said

I am in Lubbock. A Sprint rep has confirmed we will have 3g "VERY SOON" in her words. I am thinking within the next month or so. I am betting Abilene will be on that same list.

Good luck. Sprint is total **** when it comes to covering the less-populated (read: less profitable) areas with 3G. And their 4G rollout is going even slower.

So why stick with them? I live in the far NW corner pocket of Los Angeles and VZW is the only carrier that works reliably. Are they more expensive? Absolutely. But THEY WORK. A lower cost carrier is nice in the short run, but if you aren't getting the service you require, it's not worth the lower price.

Good point to which I don't have a good answer. We are getting WiMax in our area, as a matter of fact I received and new modem from Clear (Formely Clearwire) today that I can setup after July 28th to be a tester :) maybe there's some hope?

The deal I have on sprint is unbeatable by any other carrier right now. Also the service is EXCELLENT here in Lubbock just no 3g. No reason to switch at this time. Only time I REALLY rely on my internet is when I am out of town and I am tethering a little. Typically I am I am in a 3g city when I need it :)
