international roaming - Puerto Vallarta Sprint

I did a search but I'm not coming up with the answer I need or want.... I have a touch pro and I'm with sprint. I'm going to Puerto Vallarta Mexico in a week and want to see what is the best option to get set up. I do have international roaming on my phone and don't mind the .20/min when in Canada but for Mexico it's like 1.69/min for international roaming. the data is .02/KB or 2.05/MB.

Would it be best to either add skype or something similar or just buy a phone there? Any thoughts? Also any recommendations on best tequila?

PS: I do have the everything plan / i will have a PC to tether....

I don't know about your account, but my account has the option to add unlimited international data for $40. You could add it for just that month you're in Mexico, and remove it when you're done.

Also, I recommend you text where possible. From what I can tell (during my frequent trips to Canada) Texts are free when you are roaming (as long as you have unlimited texting).

The other option you have is to buy a prepaid cell.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding.. My data rate is the same here in the US as it is in Mexico. That looks like the loop hole that I can squeeze thru if I'm right. Maybe someone else knows better. If I can do skype or magicjack from my PC thru tether or if I use skype on the phone thru data would that be a better option?

Where do you see that? Sprint's international page says Mexico Data roaming is $.002 per KB. The only way to know what they are charging you would be to use data in Mexico and then look at your current usage on My Sprint @ sprint.com?

As the official public facing stuff shows the price I noted above...

I went to the sprint website and then went to international and then looked up puerto vallarta and it states:

International Roaming in Mexico
Pricing Information
Voice Pricing: $1.69/minute
Data Pricing: $0.002/kb

If this is right it should be cheaper to do the data than to make the call.... Just a guess but hopefully there is someone out there that can help define this a bit more for me....

I did chat with international roaming and they do not have an option for Mexico for $40.00 -
