ok so i have a sero plan and i was gonna upgrade from the mogul to the pro today ..but retentions told me i would have 2 upgrade my plan to an unlimited plan
is this tru?
or are they just tryna get me off my sero plan
by the way ...they offered it to me for 429.00 ...even thou im not eligable for the upgrade
ne where else i can get it cheaper??

About the Sero:
You do not need to change plan,they are just trying to sell you the upgraded one.I am on Sero. So,stand your ground.
About TP:
Some users were able to get it from Best Buy for a better price, that is if you talk to the right person there.

Look in bargain section. Craigslist. You should be able to get used one for around 300.

You do not need to upgrade from sero plan,

I got my touch pro at bestbuy for 199 with 2 year renewal on sero no problems whatsoever. BB guy took my information, called Sprint and setup my phone very quick and painless both mentally and on the wallet since I didnt have to deal with the rebate

Chiming in that you don't need to switch from SERO. New customers need to pick at least the Everything Data plan for a PDA phone but existing users can upgrade their phones without switching. Right now the only phone that you absolutely must switch your plan for is the Instinct. Rumor has it the Palm Pre will require this as well, but you definitely don't need to for the Touch Pro.

I had gone through the same thing, I don't know what bestjudge is talking about, but most cities, people are selling them on Craigslist for about $350. That's how I got mine, retention told me that as long as we keep paying our bills, regardless of what phone we get from a 3rd party, we can add it on. That's exactly what I did, I bought it off some guy on craigslist for $350 and called them up; transfer took a while but it was well worth it!

I bought mine on eBay and swapped ESN's on Sprint's website. Never talked to a rep.
Just log in and click on "Upgrade or Activate Phone" it will take you step by step through the process.

I went through best buy for $199 with a 2 year upgrade. I am still on the old $30 SERO plan. So you do not need to change your plans.

I'm on sero with the TP as well. If your not wanting to keep your mogul and have insurance you can get it replaced with a TP right now. Thats how I got mine. Just call the service stores in your area and see if they have any.

I would recommend getting it through Best Buy as well. If something is wrong you can bring it right back and return it, which is not going to happen on Craig's List or eBay. Best Buy was selling it for $200 but I think that special might be over now. I got mine for $200 and renewed one of my SERO accounts no problem.

The only phones I know of that require you to change plans (or at least add some special data plan despite the fact that SERO comes with unlimited data) are blackberries and the Sprint Instinct. You cannot have those phones and pay just $30/month.

When you say insurance? You mean TEP? If so, then yes. I bought my Mogul from ebay and my TEP still covers it when I requested a replacement. And I just realized how ugly and fat the mogul is when compared to the TP, all this time I thought mogul was the sexiest thing ever. LOL.

Best buy sucks in hawaii. they don't even carry sprint phones. I wanted to jump on that bandwagon so bad when I rode my bike to best buy only to find out they have phones for everyone but sprint.

I think so. As long as you add TEP within 30 days of activating it on your account, they should cover it just fine.

Here's my story. I have had SERO for a while. When I switched to the Pro, the rep tried to tell me I had to change to an everything plan. After much arguing, he finally conceded he would leave my plan alone and activate the Pro. I got my bill the next month and my plan had been changed to the $99 Everything. I called back in and they not only put me back on Sero, but put a $15 recurring credit on my account. Like hbenz mentioned before, stand your ground and keep your plan.

Sprint call centers DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING. Keep calling and emailing, they will give in sometime. As for the insurace, if you already have it active, it will cover an active ESN no matter if you bought it from Sprint or not. Also, if you buy a phone from ebay or craigslists, meaning it has NEVER been activated, you have 30 days to activate the insurace from the date of activation. $7 a month is great piece of mind, since you can go to any sprint store and get it replaced...Most reps are really nice and are mostly willing to help you out.

What I want to know myself is, can we exchange the phones as many times as we want? or is there a limit. I know there is a limit for assursions but I don't know about TEP. Anyone Know?

Sero plans in most cases are not eligible for phone rebates... and no you DO NOT have to change your plan... *sp employee*

What are you talking about, sero is eligible for any rebates any regular customer is, also a sprint employee in a corporate owned store, not 3rd party. if you work at a sprint store in sales then you know, sero is eligible for any and all rebates. it automatically pops up in ensemble, and if you're a back in the day rep, rms.

there is no limit to the exchanges in the store, but they will only replace it if there is a manufactuer defect. you can't walk in there with a scratch and expect them to replace it.


yes as long as the phone can be put on your account. if it is a stolen phone you will not be able to put it on your account. Or if the phone is tied to an account that hasn't paid their bill and is disconnnected you won't be able to activate that phone either. No matter how beat up the phone is, if you can put it on your account, insurance will cover it.

if you break your mogel and bring it to a sprint service store they can order a replacement through advanced exchange for a pro and it shouldn't cost you anything if you have the service plan.:headbang: if you don't have the service plan it should only cost you $45. don't break it to badly though, don't want it to come up physical damage and have to go through insurance and get a mogel again!! about the plan, you should be able to just stay on the plan that you are on. as far as exchanges no limit just need different esn's to order replacements. they are not always there but if you keep checking back during the day, they become available. Also too i wouldnt do to many exchanges due to the fact of sprint repair teams looking for red flags as far as fraud from service departments, and also your sar rating will go down pretty quickly depending on how many you do.

Also on Sero with the TP here as well. My mogul was having some pretty big issues ( I had a long list actually) And I did the self service replacement request ont he sprint website and they sent me this instead, for Free. Was a nice surprise

OK, so if I wasn't smart enough to get SERO before it went away... and I need coverage for two lines... what's the best option for me when I migrate to the Touch Pro? I currently have a Fair and Flexible 800 plan shared between the two lines.

I'd like to take advantage of all the features that the Touch Pro offers, but I don't want to be paying more than about $80 for both lines.

Any recommendations? I've been with Sprint about 8-9 years now so I have customer loyalty as a card I can play... I'm also eligible for an upgrade.

I'm not sure you'll be able to find anything that cheap. I would imagine you're looking at at least $100-$120. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
