Curious, is Everyone aware of Sprint's Online Advance Exchange Program?

Im just asking because I'm still hearing users issues about using TEP in the store for warranty. Why isn't anyone using the online method? No person to talk to, No Sprint Employee checking through all your stuff and analyzing your phone. Just submit a claim, and your new (refurb) is at your home in 1-2 days, along with a return kit to send your old phone back.

Assurion, for Insurance (Physically damaged, lost/stolen), Yes.

Warranty (Manufacturer Defects), No.

Nice find. I wonder how the system works. After they receive your phone I assume they test it and if they find it's something that should be covered under TEP and not the warranty do they just charge you the $50? I find it strange that they are trusting people to know (or play dumb) what's covered under the manufacturer's warranty and what's not.

Wonder if this would cover my end key area not "clicking" right haha.

Thanks. When you go through the process it tells you what is and what isn't covered, and warns you that your account will be charged up to $200 if it is not under warranty.

I have never had a problem personally with this, as I have been using this for the past year and a half with no issues.

As long as it isn't physical damage, or liquid damage (which is covered through Assurion, not Sprint) You shouldn't be charged anything.

Re: Curious, is Everyone aware of Sprint's Online Advance Exchange Program?

I'm glad someone made a topic about this. I had vibration issues with my touch diamond back in late november and I ended up taking it to the store where they ended up sending me another one since they couldn't fix it the one I brought into the store. The guy at the store told me that I would not be charged for it since I had full insurance. I get my bill for december and of course I see a $50 charge for the new phone. I called sprint and they said it was no way it could be removed. Is this true? Did I follow the wrong process or something?

I heard about it! I am sure not everyone reads all of my posts though, because of them being so long. Haha! You can also file Asurion claims online.

I used this service with my old Mogul. It had the usual White spot and buggy keyboard issue. Very easy process. However, the replacement was worse than the first. When I tried to use it again, I was denied because the maximum number of claims had been filed for that phone. Not account, but phone. That's when my honey bought my Diamond for Christmas.

Curious, how many exchanges did you make? I did 5 when I had my Vogue with no issues. Was this recent?

This was back in November. I only did the one exchange. So now the Mogul is on the catchall bookshelf with the old Q.

the screen went out on my apache and I got it replaced witht the insurance thru a sprint store.

the replacement's camera does not work, all pics are fuzzy and macro slider does not do anything.

would the faulty camera be an eligible reason to exchange it with this service?

How about a dead external speaker on an apache that is a few years old?
my girlfriend's phone does not even ring cause of it

also how long does it take?

i would say that if they sent you a 6700 with a non working camera, that would be a good reason to get a new phone, no questions asked.

Just a heads up, after seeing this I went to the site and they are replacing my mogul with a touch pro!!!!!! Will be here in 2-3 days.

Update: I ordered the replacement on 1/17 at 10:45pm and it showed up today (1/20). My experience with it is though to be patient and don't expect anyone to be able to give you a tracking number. I called sprint 3 times and they couldnt find a tracking number for it, but I have it in my hands now.

Yes. If you pay for insurance on your account. $50 deductible.

The phone HAS to be in Warranty to be eligible for an exchange. Any phone over a year old from purchase date, will not be eligible, as the warranty period is only 1 year. So, your girlfriends phone is definitely not eligible.

There is an exception though, if you get an exchange right at the end of the year, then you get an additional 90 days because every exchange also has a 90 day warranty.

SO basically, make sure you get it exchanged before the 1 year warranty is over, and then keep exchanging it every 90 days...and keep getting another 90 day warranty.

Shipment takes literally a day or two. Depending on what time of the day you file the claim.

Why not do the right thing and just go buy a Touch Pro 2? Sprint has been replacing truly defective Touch Pro's with Touch Pro 2's on certain occasions. But, since you stated nothing is wrong with your phone, why try to scam Sprint and get a free upgrade?

Got a replacement on Monday for my touch pro and they are still giving touch pros as expected. This one seems to be working well.

This. I am convinced we need a rule about making threads on bricking or trying to work the system to get a new phone for free.

Totally agree with ya Mr. Obivous.

I havent been with sprint very long. My first TP had a problem with the charge jack (data wouldnt work). So i took it to the store and they were nice enough to swap it for a refurb'd TP. Well after a while, I had problems with the KB on it, so they fixed that. But the I had problems with that KB after about a week, so they were cool enough to go ahead and give me a TP2 no questions asked, I didnt even have to ask for it (I would have been happy with a working TP). The difference here was that I had actual issues, and the techs were able to fully replicate the problem in the store everytime, and truly tried everything they knew to fix it.

The more people try to work the system and get free upgrades when nothing is wrong with their phone, the harder Sprint has to make the policies to keep fraud down. The drawback to that, is those harder policies make it more difficult for people with real issues to get something done.

Re: Curious, is Everyone aware of Sprint's Online Advance Exchange Program?

Yes exactly and we need to work to discourage it. If you don't like your phone, then take it back.

Re: Curious, is Everyone aware of Sprint's Online Advance Exchange Program?

Just a little tidbit to add. About 4 sprint emlpoyees have instructed me not to use this. (1 rep over the phone and 3 in stores) Now we all know how much we should trust the average sprint rep, but I'm curious as to why they all told me that I should only go to he store with my frequent and recurrent issues with my Mogul(s).

Any thoughts?

Re: Curious, is Everyone aware of Sprint's Online Advance Exchange Program?

I agree with MrObvious. It boils my blood when people try to scam the system like that. I bought my TP2 legitimately, even though I was eligible for an advanced exchange replacement on my TP1(it was actually malfunctioning). I could've gotten my TP2 for free, I had already had 3 replacements & was eligible to recieve a different phone, but guess what? All the dishonest buttheads who purposely broke their phones got all the TP2s & Sprint took them off the list!

I'm trying to use this online exchange right now to get my old TP1 replaced so I can sell it. My ex completely trashed it. He was going to buy it from me for $200 & I stupidly let him use it before having the cash in hand, and surprise surprise! 6 weeks later I still hadn't seen a dime of the money so I repoed it. I got it back covered in CAT PEE & scuffs, the slider is wobbly, the touch screen only halfway works, and it has a white line across the top of the screen. I am so angry I could spit blood. I could kill him.

Aaaaand online exchange isn't working. Says it has to be active for 30 days. Excuse me while I go scream.

Anyone have any advice on how I could get this thing exchanged without having to use it for 30 days?

Just call. I just got a replacement TP over the phone. It had only been activated for about two weeks.

Re: Curious, is Everyone aware of Sprint's Online Advance Exchange Program?

Well, what happened was that the phone I'm trying to get replaced has NEVER been activated on my line. It was sent to me in my name but I never actually used it, my ex did. It was a replacement for my 3rd faulty TP & I ordered it at the same time I ordered my TP2. My whole intent the entire time was to just sell the replacement, so when it got here, I just gave it to my ex & he activated it on his line right away. That's why I'm kinda worried here. I have all the paperwork from it still(which has the ESN on it) & there should be some kind of note on my account, right? He's willing to re-activate it on his line & order a replacement & give it to me, but you can see the obvious flaws with that plan :/

I guess I'll try calling them either tonight or tomorrow either way. The poor phone is sitting in a baggie of dry rice right now, I'm hoping I can get all the cat pee soaked up.

eehh..that's gonna be a tough one..I'm pretty sure that for any phone to be covered it must be active on the line when the damage occurred. :???:
