WiMAX faster than LTE ? ? ?

YouTube - WiMax IS Faster than LTE!!!

Well maybe not today, but it's more efficient !

Just a side humorous video, thought I'd share.

Have sound off due to it being late so couldnt see anything more then some guy standing there....

But yes, wimax is more spectral efficient by a small margin over LTE, and 2x more efficient the HSPA+

The limitation in speed has to do with how its deployed..so lets use the numbers shown in that video...

Quote:

WiMax Spectral Efficiency= DL 6.4 bits/hz UL 2.8 bits/hz
LTE Spectral Efficiency= DL 5 bits/hz UL 2.5 bits/hz
Sprint uses 10mhz right now for wimax...6.4bits * 10mhz = 64mbit
Verizon uses 20mhz right now for LTE...5bit * 20mhz = 100mbit

Then take into account other users, interference and etc...and spec limitations...

So verizon has a better frequency for less interference and more spectrum dedicated to LTE..

If sprint upgraded to wimax-enchanced they would have even better spectrum efficiency..with a minor upgrade around 40% more efficiency..with major upgrade 60% more efficiency.

So with a minor upgrade to wimax-enchanced we would get 25mbit/sec download and 4.5mbit/sec upload on the same 10mhz of spectrum per user!

Edit: oops by habit i put wimax 2..I meant wimax-enchanced! wimax-enchanced is currently available in the market and its a minor upgrade to wimax..similar to how you have HSPA+ 14mbit and HSPA+ 21mbit...
