It's bad enough I can't commit to a phone right now because of the lack of Froyo releases but now you pull a stunt like this...

Sprint promises 'industry first' at February 7th event -- Engadget

So even if they finally release Froyo on the Epic by February, I'm going to be wondering what this event is about and is it EVEN phone related or some other new device or service. So again I'll be unable to pull the trigger and upgrade. By the time I get around and do this all the dual core phones will be out. UGH!

Lack of froyo releases....the evo ,evo shift, lg optimus, and samsung intercept have froyo. Its not sprints fault the epic doesnt have froyo, none of the galaxy s devices have froyo in the states except for the nexus s

I hope I'm wrong, but I kind of get the feeling its going to be something most people dont care about like a tablet or something like a different kind of plan. Remember last time sprint did this? It was to announce to a 30 day money back guarantee? DIDN'T PHASE ME ONE BIT. As a shareholder in sprint I for one would like to see them really make a big move. Come on sprint WOW us. We sprint customers are few but faithful. My evo was at one time in my opinion sitting on top of the world. Now, other carriers have announced multiple dual core phones, phones with qhd displays and so on. Sprint gives us the Evo shift? Come on how am I supposed to brag to the iphone people at work about my network when all they have to offer after CES is a blackberry tablet and a smaller weaker version of a phone released half a year ago? @sprint... I want the LG Optimus X2 or something equivalent. Or at least do the shareholders a favor and announce something that will increase profits.

So far the Epic has the best hardware in a phone that I've seen to date that has been released IMO with Sprint. I really don't want to go backwards in technology and then renew another 2 year contract with something I wouldn't be happy with for those 2 years. Just because these phones came out after the Galaxy S line doesn't make them better (hardware wise at least).

That's why I'm ranting today, I was hoping a phone that I haven't heard of yet was slated to be seen in February and then my wait would have become somewhat tolerable.

This was more of a sarcastic announcement to get some speculation going as to what they might be announcing, and not a "help me pick a new phone" thread. Apologies if it came across as such...

Not sure of the wow factor of this but maybe a 4G version of the iPhone? I saw on those interwebs that the latest iOS had some extra version types in there for a another hardware phone version and a second iPAD hardware version crammed into it. None of which has been announced yet.

Although your last sentence is probably more to the point, that the $10 for 4G tax is being increased to $15-20 because they can.

As an android fan I don't fox wit the iphone. So it wouldn't care about that but I'd kool with it as an investor.

I wouldn't equate their style of promotion with any new fees or increases in fees (ie 4G tax). But they say "the impossible is possible," to me that means that I'll call customer service and speak to an American citizen... or David Blaine. Both are about as likely.

i was just about to text you doc...it's official, i just told the guy via email to cancel me. the rumors about the premier plan are true, i was going to only get 1st offers buys, 25% off accessories, no $150 off every year. it's all about t-mobile for me now :).
