Streaming problem solved on Sprint Android Devices

I didn't find this anywhere so i decided to post. If this has already been covered, sorry guys.

i had been having problems with streaming radio for awhile now. What would happen is that i would connect to a site and start the streaming. Within moments, the stream would stop. Then start. Then stop. Sometimes i would have to restart the app to make the stream restart. The situation was annoying to say the least.

I was listening to Bubba The Love Sponge today and they were talking about how this was an issue with Sprint devices and the solution was posted on their website. So. Here it is. All i did was copy and paste. I didn't come up with it at all on my own. It's solved 90% of my problem. I still get stream stops and starts but not like before.

"3.70 update killed your streaming music? Here’s the fix.

Apparently the update changed the settings below to something that disrupts streaming.

Here’s the fix:

1) Dial ##3282#
2) Choose Edit Mode
3) Enter MSL
4) Choose Advanced
5) Change HTTP PD Proxy Port to: 0
6) Change HTTP PD Proxy Address to: 0.0.0.0

These are the settings for other Android devices so I do not know why Sprint changed them. But this will get your streaming services working again."

Here is the Sprint Password required-------- 518003.------ It should work with all EVO's. Also after the password you need to go directly to Advanced. I had to do this on my EVO. There was no MSL to enter.

That's your particular MSL. It doesn't work on other phones.

Is this msl # located on the phone somewhere or do you have to call Sprint to get it?

The port number doesn't accept 0 for whatever reason

Re: Streaming problem solved on Sprint Android Devices

had same problem at first check that 0 is entering as first digit not second.

Re: Streaming problem solved on Sprint Android Devices

I had to switch back from swype to the default to put in the 0 successfully.

Hi darkord,
I did the steps what exactly u have there, but I have a problem. When I clicked on edit mode it pop up a numeric keyboard and ask me to enter a password. I really don't know what the password is. I just wonder you ran in to the same problem.. and also do I need to root my phone before I able to do that? I need help..

Thx..

by password you mean MSL? Get the information you need to learn how to get that here and no, doesn't have to be rooted

I dont have a rooted phone and i had no problem.
And u have to call Sprint and get your number. Call technical support. Ask to be transferred to Advanced tech support for Evo phones then ask for
your MSL #. Then follow the rest of the directions.

Any way to do this on Cyanogenmod without having to reflash a sense based rom and flashed back? Like if I use a file manager and text editor, is this file somewhere accessible and readable on the phone?

So what is the purpose or intention behind HTTP PD Proxy servers on AndroidOS devices?

no idea. all i know is that if they are not set exactly as i have stated (on Sprint phones anyway), streaming will suck.

But your phone DOES have to be rooted for this MSL reader to work.

Are you running an old version of Fresh? If you are on a non sprint version like CM the dialer codes won't work either.

how long does it take for this fix to work? it's been almost an hour and my data for htc weather app and getting emails to phone as well as web pages don't work. I dialed *2 and it shows that data was red. Sprint said it may take up to an hour to work.

should be immediate. but i'm not certain that it works for what you want it to work for.
