Love the phone, love the service, appreciate sprint has worked on customer service just upset or more so disappointed I dont have 4g. I have comtemplated selling thephone and payingthe etf. However where would I go, expensive as verizon or crippling att, metro is a joke. Im with you, when 4G comes to Metro Detroit, i expect ill be in the 500GBs range easily... as i did 130GBs last month and if you ask me my 3G/Wifi tether speeds are weaker than alot of peoples.. so when 4G comes, i wont mind paying for it at all.....

but i do think sprint shouldnt charge people for something thats not around.. if you go to an area that has 4G and want to use it, Sprint should have daily/weekly usage plans/limits and things like that.. you know just make a phone call and have 4G while your out of town.. go back to your area and no worries...

Crazy ass snow we got in the Mi today- yikes!

yeah not feeling the snow already, especially being that this is the first snow and its so bad.

Back to the topic though, if I was told that 4g would not be in detroit til next year it may have changed my decision on purchasing the evo or I would have been happier knowing that I will have to pay an extra ten dollars for about a year to sixteen months before I get 4g. the fact that 3 different sprint stores explained to me that 4g will be here at the end of the and its not is very disappointing. I am willing to take this one on the chin though, if anything else happens thats negative i may truly consider leaving.

almost every one i know who isnt in a 4g area but went ahead and got an evo or epic, also got a 10 for 24 month credit on their bills. if you have the ammo and a little time to talk to sprint, you too could get this. its just a 10 dollar credit for the initial contract term. you could prolly even get them bump it to 20 for 24 when its time to renew.

as a mod point, please be courteous to other users and C & D from name-calling and other puerile methods of point proving. If you have resorted to such base communication techniques, chances are you lack the cranial capacity to intelligently argue your point.

Now here's my take:

Personally I am not in favor of any court ordering a company not to charge a fee if it does not violate the TOS the customer agrees to, which you all did when purchasing your Evo or Epic.

This would set a negative precedent of court ordering companies to do certain things and gets into a whole other debate on socialism.

If you ran a company and wanted to charge $10 a month extra for something, you certainly wouldn't want uncle sam telling you that you can't do that for whatever reason if you are not violating TOS.

Personally I don't like the $10 add-on if I were on Sprint. I pay $60 a month with t-mobile for the same/better phones with HSPA+ "4G" (faster than wimax) and I wouldn't migrate to Sprint to pay $20 more for a slower 4G.

The point is, there are other carriers with other plans. Suing a company because you don't like what they charge seems rather ludicrous to me. Why are they charging $10 a month? The simple answer is because they can, but since there are 3 other major carriers and about a billion smaller ones that ride networks you can always move to another network

"But I don't use 4G"

flash your Evo on Cricket or Boost, pay $45 a month for unlimited everything, be inventive. Don't buy that $10 beer at the game, but use it on your phone which you use all day every day

But that's just me though,

Its cheap as hell for what we do with this phone and all those getting free tether and using their phone as their primary internet connection and downloading 30-50-100gbs a month. You all should be happy too, have you seen what Verizon and the others are charging. Who the hell cares if you don't live in a 4g area. If you travel somewhere that does are you telling me you don't want to rock your phone out. If you can't handle the $10 bucks you shouldn't buy an expensive phone or a smartphone. Why don't you go out and buy one of those giant number cricket phones for the old folks and stop your whining.

We knew about the $10 before we got the phone. I'll gladly pay it considering the power of the phone and how they leave me alone to tether, etc. Especially considering I'm still sitting on an old sero plan.

Meaning it's not like you got the phone and then a month later sprint told you that you have to pay 10 more a month. For all that got the devices you accepted the fee so grow up and get the bottle out your mouth.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sprint says if you want to purchase this phone you will need to pay an additional $10 fee.

You agree to pay the fee.

You believe the fee is for 4g service. After you have already agreed to pay the fee you believe you should not have to pay it since 4g is not offered in your area.

What I don't understand is why you would buy a 4g phone knowing that you will not be able to use the 4g service, and agree to pay a fee that you believe is for a service that you know you will not be able to use? That makes no sense. If you didn't want to pay the fee you should not have purchased the phone.

Let Sprint not charge money they obviously NEED to stay in business and get bought out by Verizon so people can see how inconvenient $10 is compared to $30 or $40 more for the same features.

i really dont see how its that difficult, if you want the phone pay the $10. if you dont want to pay then switch networks and pay more per month (most times) or use a phone that doesn't require it. you signed a CONTRACT knowing what you where paying, but in typical good'ol USA fashion sue them till you get your way.

well. i was going to be an old nasty bastard (like usual) but decided to rethink and try to be a little more tactful. so the following is what i've come up with.

are you guys f-ing kidding me? Sprint lies to us about the damn fee and you "kids" have the grapes to call us whiners? really? seriously? we were told there would be no fee for the 4G. then we were told that there would be a $10 fee for 4G use. then we were told that the $10 fee wasn't for 4G use, it was for "premium data". wtf is "premium data" ? i have an "everything data" plan. i already have "premium data". i've had it for years.

the fact of the matter is, i could care less about the actual $10 fee if i was getting something for it. but other than lies from Sprint, i'm getting nothing. i'm paying an extra $10 per month ($20 actually because i have two EVOs) and i get shit for it.

all that being said. guys. a way around this whole $10 nonsense is to call retentions like i did and talk to them about it. if you're lucky, they will tell you how bad they feel about making you pay for a fee that is stupid and that they discussed the $10 fee with management and urged them not to enforce it. then (again if you're lucky), they will put you on hold, then come back and tell you that they are going to give you $200+ worth of credits to make you like Sprint again.

so tell me, wasn't that rant nicer than my usual ones?? i think i should take a poll.

Re: Class Action Lawsuit Against Sprint for the 10$ Fee!

im not gonna sign up for this lawsuit but i agree with the point of it. 4g is not wide spread enough to justify that $10 coolness fee IMO. it should of been an option to use it, not a requirement.

for example, i have had my evo for 2 months and i have yet to even use 4g for two reasons:

1.) it's a battery killer to the max!

2.) the nearest 4g signal is over 10 miles north of where i live in grand rapids.

Re: Class Action Lawsuit Against Sprint for the 10$ Fee!

I understand where everyone is coming from, each of us have our writes to our opinions. To me the $10 charge is alright..since Sprint is nearly the cheapiest carrier out there...and gives you the most for the $$$, saying that...I only wish Sprint would have thought this through a little bit better. What they should have done is wait to add the $10 charge...atleast until the 4G network is vastly improved...(faster and more reliable). To throw the $10 charge right of the get go with a brand new 4G network..meh...could have done better Sprint.
