Re: sprint fall/winter lineup?
im in the same boat as you guys. im due for upgrade mid october and ive been eye balling the epic and the evo. i would hate to jump on the epic, then HTC come out with something that is like and evo with a keyboard, more up to date processor, and a better screen with the same size. so is there any news about what is coming? im ready to get out of WM and into Android...not really interested in upcoming WM7 phones.

I'm not sure if Sprint will come out with a new Evo type device until Spring. The Evo was the first of its kind. Verizon just recently released a phone that compares to the Evo. I would like Sprint to release the next best thing in the Spring and still have the best phone around. |
Re: sprint fall/winter lineup?
I actually have the EVo and i dont think i will be switching to new phone that would come out this winter BUT it would be interesting what phones are coming out...

Re: sprint fall/winter lineup?
Samsung Transform - no keyboard and POTENTIAL for not having a $10 fee forced (I wouldn't count on this though)

Re: sprint fall/winter lineup?
Keep an eye out on Verizon announcements too. They seem to have phones that parallel eachother. That new CDMA G2 but nicer looking thing looks sweet.

The chances of MS developing an OS that has a user friendly interface with innovative features are slim to none. Actually I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see WP7’s user interface ultimately being a C prompt (C:>) and a stylus with the equipment manufactures having to apply a shell to make it usable. The best people can hope for is that MS does a less than average job copying Apple and Google. It wasn’t until Apple’s success with the iphone, and later, the success Google had with Android, that MS even started putting any effort into their mobile OS. If MS wants my business in the future they have to earn it, I refuse to give MS the benefit of the doubt any longer. MS must do more than simply copy Apple and Google to win me over. For me, WP7 is dead on arrival, no copy & paste and no tethering equals NOWAY. As soon as I able to upgrade I am abandoning ship and going Android….. Thanks for letting me vent, and have a great weekend everybody... |
Re: sprint fall/winter lineup?
Things I'm waiting for:
1) DUAL CORE CPU the real wait is for dual core chips on the phone which they're currently working on and is most likely to show up soon. How soon is the kicker of course. 2) BETTER BATTERY LIFE this really does make a difference in usability. But as we demand our phones do more than just voice calls, we're stretching how much give it has. In the very least I expect phones to last me through the day and into the night until I hit the hay when I can plug it in. Then next morning be ready for action (sort of sounds like a pr0n script doesn't it?) 3) amoled 1080p displays with true color. 2/3 of these are currently available in samsung epic. Only thing missing is 1080p 4) Please no more 800x600 rez. Give us more. 5) optical image stabilization 6) good low light camera |

Re: sprint fall/winter lineup?
I was under the impression that dual cores were delayed significantly and were expected to be released sometime in Q3 2011. In the meantime, Samsung was expecting to push the current Epic CPU up to 1.5ghz. My first though was that oh great, now the battery won't even last past breakfast time.
Also, the Samsung Transform is "supposed" to be available for sale (not presale) 10/10/10 according to several sources. I haven't found anything from Sprint directly as far as specs or release date, but the FCC documentation shows that it will have a QWERTY keyboard and no 4G. Is the phone going to be a mini-Epic in the midrange of Sprint devices? Or is it aimed at the massess who don't quite like the $10/mo 4G coolness tax? |

Re: sprint fall/winter lineup?
For those upgrading to the SERO premium plan and wanting an Android phone but not wanting to pay the $10 4G fee this might be a option. I myself would love a Epic or Evo, but until 4G is available in my area I refuse to pay for a service which I can not use. I am not sure how much longer I can take using the TP2.

Re: sprint fall/winter lineup?
I'm itching for a new device as well.
Seems like I'll have to wait a few more months. I'm hoping that early 2011 brings in WP7 and perhaps a new webos device. |

Though from what I read it uses a PenTile VGA and a 600mhz processor...and a really high price tag...aka unless you plan on fighting a war with that phone your better off with a TP2. |

The "Premium Data" fee was a way for Sprint to get people on Sero and SWAC plans who were paying nothing for their data plans to pay for data. Users on these plans have to upgrade to a premium plan +10$ AND pay the +10$ fee everyone else pays to have the 4g phones |
Re: sprint fall/winter lineup?
Lets keep the conversation to upcoming phones and away from the ever present "fees" discussion.
Thanks! Eerie. |
