So i pulled the trigger and ordered the EVO over the phone through Telesales. Its on the way and i confirmed with the rep that purchasing the phone at this time would NOT change my plan, and that i would only be prompted to change my plan WHEN i activated it. She mentioned that Telesales can not do any changes to your plan. Also I was also able to charge the cost phone to my bill instead of paying for it out right. So looks like ill have my EVO for a few days before activation to get familiar with the new OS!

Did they mention the rebate at all? I'm concerned that they won't update it and it won't have the new SERO plan on the eligibility list.

She said that there is a $100.00 mail in rebate. should take 8 weeks to process.

One thing of note is that the first rep i spoke to that initiated the order mentioned that they were not aware of any of hte 10/1 changes but that he was receiving a LOT of calls as of late about the EVO and Epic from SERO customers. He simply quoted from that pop-up window that comes up when you go through the ordering process via Sprint.com. The second rep that came on the line was a supervisor that came on just to confirm my order and reiterated that my plan would not change until the phone was activated. its under the 30-day guarantee thing so if it doesnt work out then you can send the phone back and revert back to your old plan (as per the user agreement that the rep had to read to be before he could process the order)

Don't lose track of that rebate. Twelve weeks and counting. I'm still waiting for the "reissued" check for my evo.

Cool, thanks. I think I'll give them a call when I get home.

Please keep in mind, that you can NOT go back to old SERO plan once you change, and that is because the codes are no longer in the system to do so. No matter who what they promise you.

I had to go through this personally..

This is different than all the info out there now. Also it would imply the cheapest SERO plan would now be $40, which is not the case either. When I activated my Evo last Friday, I asked about going back to what they call basic SERO, and she yes, no problem. Any time.

Since its beyond the D-Day of October 1, I'm going to close this one up. This way we can keep the discussion about are you/aren't you...success/fail... good, bad, ugly in the one or two other threads floating around here.

Thanks for the discussion!
