If Sprint was smart with the EVO....

Just thought I ask what you think Sprint should do with the EVO.....

If this is the flagship phone...competitor to the iPhone...they need to act like it. Fix problems...(I know they fixed the SD card problem). Upgrade it to Android 2.2 as soon as possible. Keep adding new features...possibly tweak the battery life. If Sprint stands behind this phone, it can be great for them. If not, there will be alot of upset people. So far I think the phone is great....Apple sells you an iPhone and then thats it. You have to buy the next model for any improvment, if sprint were to keep evolving the EVO....it could be something special. Some people think this phone should wash your socks and make breakfest, but we need to remember its a phone. If you want a computer...buy a laptop.

I just hope they keep updating it in a timely manner...instead of the end of the year....

who's to say they arent planning to release froyo sooner than people are expecting? they already released an ota update like you said, perhaps that's their plan with this device. The HD2 received tons of updates to fix bugs, so it's very likely this similar device will get the same treatment. I know sprint's in the equation, but they obviously took a different approach with this phone compared to other devices they've launched in the past.

Let's cross our fingers! So far I've encountered the reboot bug, so i expect that to be fixed soon!

Btw, isnt froyo supposed to improve battery life?

I feel what you're saying, but how much of that is really up to Sprint. Yes they should market the hell out of the phone. More commercials, dis the Iphone a little bit. But in terms of software and harware issues, isn't that on HTC and Google? HTC designed the phone and Google the OS. The main reason why Froyo isn't out on the EVO is because they have to design it to work with Sense, not because Sprint is delaying it. Same thing with battery life, thats on HTC not Sprint. But I'm with you. Sprint needs to make sure this phone is well marketed.

Well for one they should be keeping this phone in stock...I mean they PLENTY of time to have HTC manufacture lots of phones...there is no excuse for a shortage of stock as it is now >.>

Believe it or not, this is part of their strategy. Shipping just enough units to sell out shortly after they arrive in stores keeps demand, as well as interest in the phone, high. It's the same thing Nintendo did with the Wii. Remember how long that thing was selling out in stores? Look at their sales figures. Supply will catch up with demand eventually (sooner than later I'm sure) but right now it's just business strategy.

That is true but if your facing against an iPhone..making ppl wait until it actually comes out end up hurting you as well..mostly if they change their mind and go for the iPhone...
