Use Another Lines Upgrade
 

I have 5 lines on my plan, I want to use one of them to upgrade to the Evo while I can still get a good resale price on my Touch Pro.

I found a thread from 2008 saying I can use another lines upgrade and then ESN swap without waiting 30 days if it's an instant rebate, is that still true?

You can use any line for yourbupgrade and do an immediate swap. When in was speaking with telesales last month to upgrade my phone they even brought it up themselves to check if I could use upgrade on one of my other lines. So long as the phone is activated you get the rebate. Doesn't matter which line.

Now I just have to decide if I want to Evo up or wait and see what comes out.

there is a good chance your rebate will get denied if you swap esn before its processed. from what we where told is that the rebate department checks the esn to the subscription id that it was activated to, this is to make sure you don't upgrade and sell the phone to make money. if you get the phone at a 3ed party that does instant rebates you will be fine, hard part would be getting them to spend the time to do the swap. i have customer come in with denial notes from swapping subs to early, but your ok if you wait till its "processed".

Yes, but if he used a second line to get the upgrade and ONLY activated it on the first that would not void his rebate.

For example, I have a family plan with 4 lines. My line is not eligible for rebate until next year sometime, but my son's line is and he doesn't want/need a new phone. I use his upgrade and activate it on my line, same plan so its all good. If the phone is not first activated/swaped on his line it doesn't create the scenario of 'swapping'.

I think i see this as a solution to my thread.
Question is will this work BB or Radio Shack?
How can those resellers sell me the phone on my unused Upgrade Credit line since the Upgrade is attached to its current ESN/Phone# & then go about getting it activated on a non eligible other line?

I guess I am not seeing the logistic of how this can work...

I don't think you can go that route as BB and RS require that they activate the phone at purchase.
