How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
How long have you been with your current provider?
How many did you have before this current provider? Have you switch to another provider only to go back to the one you left? I'm currently with Sprint and have been since Feb 11, 2002 I didn't have any other provider before them and today I found out that even though I haven't been with Sprint for 10+ years I'm still eligible for the yearly upgrades because my account has been in good standings with them since I started with them, makes me happy! So I guess I will wait for Jan 2011 to get my Evo 4G phone, perhaps the price would drop by then too (not even knowing what the price will be initially) What's your story? |
Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
1. 12yrs
2. None, Sprint has been my first, it was pretty rough at the beginning I was pulling my hair but over the yrs voice/data coverage got better and better every year. 3. Will not switch due to Sprint having the most "Data" EV coverage here is S. Texas (CDMA Country) and Verizon is just a little high on their phone plans. |
Wirelessly posted (AdrianH85(TP2): Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint MP6950SP)

Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
Been with Sprint and Sprint only since 2001. Had as many as 4 lines on my plan.
Down to two lines since my brother started working for T-Mo. Mom and I are still on Sprint. I pay for her phone service every month since I'm such a good son. Apparently giving birth to me entitles her to it ;) |

Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
I've had Sprint since 2000. I technically don't use the line anymore, but I still have 2 with them, one for my wife and one for my brother-in-law who pays me for his plan.
I've had At&t since 2008 because I got on my family's family plan since it was cheaper. I've been happy with both carriers over the years. I've only had a couple of serious issues with Sprint, which finally got resolved after a few months, but overall I've been a satisfied customer of both. Coverage has been great with both, but I wish At&t had more 3G. Their Edge coverage has been great though, just slower internet. I'm not really sure if I could pick one if I had to now. I love the Nexus One, but the Evo sounds awesome too. Sprint has more 3G coverage than At&t, so that's better for the internet. |
Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
Sprint since they launched their CDMA network - 1996.
Previously, with Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems (1992-1996) - wayyy before they became AT&T, nee Cingular. When calling Sprint customer service, I remind them of the fact that I'm a Charter Subscriber, and most of the time I get what I ask for. SERO until they switch me off, baby! |

I found 5 degrees of separation Sprints first mobile venture was called 360 Communications which was sold to Alltel who was bought out by Verizon... In 1995 Sprint started offering cell service in Baltimore-Washington metro area, this network was GSM which was eventually sold to Ominpoint which eventually became T-Mobile Thanks Sprint for starting your competitors! Sprint first started as Brown Telephone Company in 1898 to compete against Bell... gee it goes back a long way huh? |
Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
First got Sprint in 2003, then went to Verizon after contract because they had text messaging and not that crappy sms that Sprint had back then. Then went to nothing but home phone, then back to Verizon in 05 cause no one else wanted me, then home phone in 06, then to AT&T in 07 because of work discount, then to Sprint in 08 for better work discount. Now with Sprint and will probably stay with em for a while. So that leaves me with everyone but TMO.....always turned away from them, probably because the Sidekick freaks me out.

Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
Been a Sprint customer since December 2006. Was with Cingular/AT&T before then since 2001. The day I left Cingular, I got Verizon. I called my sister to give her my new number, and she tole me to take the phone back and tell Verizon that I don't want their service because she put me under her employee account with Sprint. 500 anytime minutes, nights and weekends starting @ 7, unlimited data, text, and pic messaging plus full insurance for 30 bucks a month? I'm not going anywhere anytime soon lol!

Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
Been with Sprint since 2000... before that some regional provider and ultimately absorbed by AT&T.
Don't know if I will ever leave Sprint... no reason to. |
Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
Had Sprint since before the Nextel merger up until last october... Due to coverage issues went to Verizon... Sprint has better rates but service just isnt as good.... Also, everyone I know in my area has Verizon so I could drop down my minutes...

Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
Started with Southwestern Bell Mobile in 1999. I always had spotty coverage and many dropped calls. The company I start work for switched to Sprint 2002 and I noticed coverage was better and not as many dropped calls. I befriended our sales rep who got me on a SERO plan in March of 2003 and have been a loyal customer since. Still friends with rep now eventhough he is no longer with Sprint.

Since 1998? Has only gotten better with time.

Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
Alltel since 1992.
Verizon since the merger. A buddy I worked with when we were in college (I bought a car from him) was a VP with Alltel. I saw recently where he is now regional VP with AT&T. I get "thank you for being a longtime customer" from VZW, but that's it. No perks. Found out the hard way that "new every 2"'s timer resets if any phone gets swapped out for any reason. Had one phone go belly up after a year. It got replaced. Now we have to wait two more years before any phone on the account can be "upgraded". But... Found out two weeks ago that my internet connection, using my TP as a modem, is twice as fast as my DSL connection through AT&T. |
Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
Alltel for the past 4 yrs.
Verizon before that till they screwed me on my security deposit. Cellular One before Verizon for a couple of years. |
Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
Been with sprint since late 2001. Switched for the Sanyo scp5150 that I thought was so cool back then. Before that I had At&t before they joined with Bellsouth. Had a couple nokias with them, the last being a chrome one with a slider. Think it was the 8810. Before that I think I was with PrimeCo and before that, I think a beeper.
Have shopped around since starting with sprint, but despite the reputation for bad CS, sprint has been great to me. I do miss the CS with PrimeCo, tho. If anything happened to my phone, I could just go to the store and get a brand new one activated. |
Well, VZW DOES appreciate loyalty. Sorta...
Got a letter yesterday from VZW talking about how long I had been with Alltel before the merger and that they (VZW) wanted to be sure I stay loyal to them.
How? By letting me upgrade either or both the Alltel phones now (without waiting out the two years), and we can keep our current voice plan. Yeah, the current VOICE plan. Letter and brochure say that several times. I'll need to check to see if we can keep the current DATA plan as well. Oh, and I have TWO WHOLE WEEKS to make my decision. Then the deal is off. |
Re: How Long Have You Been With Your Current Provider
i've been with sprint since 1999. never switched thinking it would get better and i didn't want to lose my phone number. once you were able to port numbers i stayed with them since they're cheap. their service reflects that too. had the insurance plan, but they didn't do jack squat when my BB was on the fritz so i got rid of it. haven't had a contract with them now for over 3 years. with the new EVO coming out i just might have to change that last stat.
