Assurion + Alltel = Pissed Off

Assurion Insurance can kiss my (very) white ass.

$600 phone dies. Dead. Only replacement? A Motorola Q, according to the tech support in Costa Rica.

Un-Freaking-Acceptable. Lots of yelling.

Finally got transfered to a "supervisor". Hmm, no accent, finally someone in America! He repeated the Q crap. I told him I didn't pay insurance on a $600 phone to get it replaced by something worth maybe half of that. Put on hold, again.

Came back with an offer for a Touch Diamond. Closer, but still a downgrade to the tune of about $200. No, won't take it.

Things would have been much easier if Verizon would finish the damn transition. Then I would have had a choice of thier phones. Like a Touch Pro2, HTC Imagio, Droid Eris, ect. But nooooooo, even though Alltel is OWNED by Verizon, I can't have any of their phones.

I'm steaming. Sooooo pissed.

I know it would be a downgrade for me, but there was no way I was going Motorola again. The quality just sucks. So I asked if any Blackberrys were available. Finally gave in and told him to just send me a Curve.

And once this transition is done, I get the feeling there's going to be another insurance claim...

By the way, by died, ALL the hard buttons died. Every one of them. At the same time. When the phone boots, those light up. then never light again. The backlight stays on, even when put to sleep (the screen goes black, but you can still see the glow) and plugging in to charge doesn't change the leds on the scroll wheel.

What really pisses me off is that a few weeks ago my daughter's Diamond was stolen, and I paid the insurance to replace it. Assurion told me the Diamond was no longer made so she got the TP. Now they tell me the TP is no longer made, and want to give me a Diamond as a replacement? WTF?

Sorry to hear that. I am so glad I am on Sprint. By far the best carrier out there. Problems with your TP? No problem, send it in for a free replacement.

sprint is by far NOT the best carrier out there. as for the OP, VZN did not buy all of alltel, only parts in certain areas/markets. did you confront them about they just sending you a TP not long ago? try calling alltel and telling them your situation, they may help you out.

LOL, no more TP's left? Alltel is still offering them as their "best" phone in the divested markets.

If you still have your TP, try taking the battery out and pinching the phone in the space bar area. That usually fixes the buttons not working problem. There is a cable under there that comes unplugged.

Sorry I disagree. Paying only $30/month with unlimited and they just upgraded me to the TP2. So yes I would say they are the best IMO.

Saying any carrier is the best is simply an opinion. As for having a problem with the TP and Sprint fixing it, I call BS. I had a TP that was having all sorts of problems and they claimed it was due to user abuse. I dealt with the 800 number and the store over a months time. The store claimed since the chrome finish was peeling in spots that it was an indicator that I abused the phone. I took it all the way to their VP of Customer Support and all I got out of it was an apology and a $50 credit on my next upgrade.

I moved the phone over to my VZW account and put a custom Rom on it. Imagine that, the custom rom fixed all the issues. But then I've had VZW issues in the past, so it's all about luck when you deal with these companies.

Yes, VZW is great. It's perfectly reasonable for me to pay $40 for the "unlimited" data package that VZW customers pay $30 for. I don't mind, really.

Still not happy, obviously. Got the phone today. They didn't even send what they said they were going to. Sent a freaking pearl flip.

Filing a complaint with the BBB. Yea, i'm pissed.

Sad part is, I kind like the flip. Go figure. If I had know that I might like it before, maybe I would have spent a ton less money.

And as for the market comments, I'm not in a divested market. This is certainly to be Verizon. When is the question. Who the hell knows...
