RHOD500, having CDMA 3G netowrk issues
 

Im using the FR0X6 build with the newest rootfs from f22 with the patch and also the newest RIL from highlandsum. I can get the 1x network to work if I take the sim card out(sometimes the signal will just die andI have to restart the phone) but 3g doesnt work without the sim card installed, and I cannot get android to get on the CDMA network at all if the sim card is in. What can I do?

If you're on CDMA, don't use the SIM.

If you're on GSM, use the SIM.

Eventually you'll be able to flip between them (yes, on the fly), but FRX06 (stock) isn't ready to handle that ability yet...

If you're using F22's rootfs with hyc's RIL support, make sure you're using hyc's 'ril2' from the 6th post of his testing RIL thread.

Yeah if I take out the sim(beacuse its verizon) I get an okay signal, but no 3g. I used the ril2-f45b767.zip ril in the #6 post. If im using F22's patched rootfs, do I need that rootnew.zip in the #6 post as well? Do you know why I cant get any 3g signals? If it helps, when I do search for providers under the mobile network settings, I dont see verizon but only cingular.

Well you definitely need to remove the SIM until you have a system image that has the correct frameworks changes to support switching modes...

If you get F22's rootfs with hyc RIL support, I don't think the rootnew changes would be required... I'll have to verify that to be sure, but I'm pretty sure that's not required.

Search for providers is a GSM-only thing AFAIK...

So when I take the sim out, would you have any idea why I can get regular 1x but not 3g? The weather and news widget says network unavailable or something like that.

I think that widget depends on netloc, which *should* work in hyc's new RIL (certainly does for me, in Froyo....)

Could just be your area I guess on why you're not getting 3g...? Not sure. The new RIL is kinda difficult to integrate on your own, so you might want to wait until it's implemented into the builds.

I dont think its my area because I can get 3g with Winmo however I dont think I get 3g in Winmo without the sim card(and this is verizon) Any ideas? Thanks for your help so far

Ok, you're confusing me.

You don't think you get 3g in WinMo without the SIM card... Verizon doesn't use SIM cards, so if you're getting 3g service thru the SIM it's on someone else's network (not VZ).

Yes haha, perhaps I am confusing myself. This, by the way, was said by my friends father so I will be able to test it myself and see whats actually going on. Ill get back to you later today, thank you.
