Netflix Streaming

So a app for netflix was just released that allows certain android phones to stream netflix. Has anyone been able to do this on the TP2? I downloaded the APK and I just get a device not supported message and then a white screen.

If you know how to hack the build.prop file in system.ext2 to make it look like like one of the 5 approved devices you may get it working.

What is 'the hard way'? I edited the build.prop file as well but every time you reboot it changes back to the default settings.

Don't bother, I edited my build.prop, app shows up in market, downloads installs, runs, logs in, but doesn't play video. We have video codec issues currently (HQ youtube anyone?) so it doesn't work.

Anyone else heard of this working? Or can anyone confirm?

Here's the link:

Netflix works on froyo!!!!

I'm wondering if this means it works on the Droid, but not phones like the TP2 that run XDAndroid?

It works on phones that natively have Android. Our port, while it is 'native' in the sense that it's not emulating Android, it is not the same experience you would have on a native Android device - IE a device made for Android. While our port is a good representation, there's still some issues. Video codecs are one of them... our screens are pretty high res, and it seems that either our processor can't handle the full resolution for videos, or we don't have libraries that utilize the processor properly. Several devs have tried to push the libs to their limits, and got some improvement... but no one was able to get videos to play at full 480x800 IIRC.

Yeah I figured it was native Android only.
