Fastest working build
Could someone put together a list of the fastest/best working combination of components? There is so much stuff out there in testing right now that it's confusing to put the right spriget with the right sprocket.
I believe Tiad has tried to do that some in the past, but the last post i saw where he did that was a while back. Several kernels/modules/etc. have been posted since then. Even better, if someone could put together a single build that others could just extract and run. That would be awsome! |
Re: Fastest working build
reference cab for the install (very easy setup) and then the modules and zimage form here are working great for me!!!!

Re: Fastest working build
Does that include lib_gle and gralloc tiad has been working on?

Re: Fastest working build
Thanks to both of you guys. I'm running FRX03 reference + your wtiltkernel first. Then i'll add gralloc and then possibly libGLES. Using all the latest stuff. I'll report back what works together and what doesn't (for me on RHOD500 that is)
EDIT: Hah! Got the black screen on initial bootup. Followed your tip to touch the screen where the slider is and it woke immediately. |
Re: Fastest working build
ya im extremely happy with the setup i have right now. good and snappy and been error free!!!

Re: Fastest working build
What's your bat life like?
EDIT: So far so good. Running FRX03 w/ arrrggh's wstilt kernel (modified for RHOD500 startup). I run directly from haret and no startup utility. Here is my startup file: set ramsize 0x10000000 set ramaddr 0x10000000 set mtype 2292 set KERNEL zImage set initrd initrd.gz set cmdline "lcd.density=240 msmts_calib=0x9f.0x39a.0x35c.0x78 clock-7x00.a11=500 msmvkeyb_toggle=off pmem.extra=1 force_cdma=1 gsensor_axis=2,1,3 pm.sleep_mode=1 acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=716800 rel_path=andboot hw3d.force=1 physkeyboard=rhod500" boot Very snappy! This is the first time i've actually seen the green light everyone talks about when it's sleeping. I assume that will give me better battery life too. More to come as i continue testing... |
Re: Fastest working build
Thanks for asking the question and thanks to those who answered. I try and stay on top of the latest and greatest, but it seems the last few weeks I have been pretty lost. ooxtreme are you adding in this graloc and libGLES?

I was thinkin about tryin it out tonite maybe???? |
Re: Fastest working build
Ok. I just tried it with them. Seems super freakin slow at first. Then after awhile it works fine. Not sure if I did it right as I just dropped the graloc and libGLES files into my andboot folder.

As for the sluggishness, probably that stupid system_server crap. Make a phone call to voicemail (always works for me) or go to Maps or Places (doesn't always seem to work for me, not sure tho). Hope that helps! |

Re: Fastest working build
If anyone is interested, I took WisTilt2 kernel posted by arrrghhh (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...yboard-bl.html) and combined it with Tiad8's 3d driver and other files (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...e-testing.html) to create a new All-In-One package you can extract to your SD card (uses andboot directory); you can follow my original post (with Tiad8's 1232 Kernel) here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...ml#post2017935.
Here's the link: All-In-One-Package with WisTilt2 kernel It's pretty fluid and fast. I got a score of 621 on Quadrant. Keyboard backlight works great and when it goes into deep sleep, the LED is solid green. However, sometimes my TP2 is sluggish when it boots into Android so what I do is power it down (not reboot), power it on in WinMo and then launch haret. |
Re: Fastest working build
@ndno - Thanks a bunch for taking time to combine everything together. I have not been able to get any packages up and running correctly. Where exactly are you placing all of these files, and also how are you getting them to boot up correctly? I would really love to try out all the new fixes people are brewing up but cannot figure out how to install them. I watched Tiad's movies but I'm just not fully getting the gist of what is being done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks man! Downloading now and i will give a test drive! The sluggishness is not you there is some nasty system hang sometimes that causes this with most of the builds!:headbang: |
Re: Fastest working build
Simple Android BootUp Works For Me On TP2 Sprint
1. Download All-In-One-Package with WisTilt2 kernel and extract on your pc, you will get one folder with all files in it named ANDBOOT. 2. Format 1 gig micro sd card to fat 32. Save U files if you like. 3. Copy extracted folder ANDBOOT from pc to root of micro sd card. Put card back in phone. 4. With phone in Windows Mobile make sure to turn off Overclocking if you use it. Use file explorer and go to root of storage card, click on ANDBOOT folder and then click on HARET.EXE. Windows Mobile OS will close and Android will begin booting....... lots of small white text scrolling on screen, pausing sometimes, be patient and let it load. You will then see small droids flying on your screen for sometime..... let it load. Finally the home screen will come up after approximately 3 to 5 minutes. 5. If you have no Carrier signal shut down Android and then remove your sim card. Boot back to Windows and then click the haret.exe file again and you should be able to make calls and use data, internet. Similar guides have been posted on this and a guide here might help you get up to speed also...... *ANDROID Quote:

Re: Fastest working build
This build doesn't work for me. It says:
Failed to mount the SD card. Cannot continue. /bin/sh: cant access tty; job control turned off / # This is my third attempt on this rom. Others work fine. |
Re: Fastest working build
wouldnt nand technically be the fastest, but maybe it is not working as per the original question? I am ready to flash to nand, if I it faster.

Re: Fastest working build
I removed my sim about 6 months ago as it was the only way to get things to work. Do you suggest that I can run with a sim now?

Re: Fastest working build
I was having trouble with wireless after various tests I jacked it up. I tried your compiled version and dumped the tar and image file from 1/7 in there and wireless tether worked to turn on and off. When I turned it back on it rebooted. On previous build it would reboot when I turned it off. Could be worse I guess. The wireless tether for android is tons faster than winmo for me.

Re: Fastest working build
Guys, try out Tiad8's new Froyo X distribution (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...1-01-08-a.html). It's awesome. I updated it with the new kernel and overclocked it to make it even super duper faster: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...76#post2032576

This was recommended to me after I had trouble with Froyo and Blazin builds, but it hands at the start of the boot right after allocated buffer dma_addr 25250000. Suggestions? Edited: I rebooted and it installed! Is this the current version? |

Re: Fastest working build
How do you power down? I have the 1245 build going well. previously I had it working perfectly now I need to make a phone call after I boot but it takes a minute or longer to get to phone app and make the call. Otherwise I love it!!!!
I cannot get keyboard light fix to work and wireless so I am living without the keyboard light. Can I apply just the keyboard light fix to my current setup without crashing wifi tethering? If so can someone post? Otherwise I will just live without it and check back in a couple months and try it again. Thanks a ton to everyone on this.... Right now I am spending time finding the perfect core function setup / repeating alerts for sms, gmail, google voice and exchange, home screen with wind speeds, todays calendar appointments, etc... Not there yet! |
