Re: Tried XDANDROID - *VERY* slow typing, characters double and triple typing.. Help!
i have a few month old build going, and still have never had issues like that... just undo it all, and re-install without the update this time... doesnt sound like any tweak or anything will save the day

Re: Tried XDANDROID - *VERY* slow typing, characters double and triple typing.. Help!
I have best results when loading a new build for the very first time by taking the following measures: make sure it's not overclocked, dont include any updates, make sure data.img is deleted from previous build, basically run the downloaded file with no tweaks or changes made.
Once this is done, i just let it boot and sit for 5-10minutes... then I restart and reboot... performance has never been an issue when I take these steps.

Re: Tried XDANDROID - *VERY* slow typing, characters double and triple typing.. Help!
I have this same issue from time to time where the whole OS runs very slow. screens take forever to come up, letters take forever to appear... when that happens i just reboot into WinMO, wait a little while and then boot back into Android... problem almost always goes away.
still don't know what causes it though... it's always happened at random times (for months now, and i always stay updated so i'm sure it's not related to a specific build)

Re: Tried XDANDROID - *VERY* slow typing, characters double and triple typing.. Help!
I used the latest XDA .cab package that installs a shortcut in the Start menu. Upon first run I also trtied to update, but it said I had the latest version. Ran slow that first time and I was unimpressed, but since then I have used the OC utility built into the startup and it runs acceptably. There are still some lags here and there, but I think it has more to do with running an OS on a device it was never intended for than anything else. As has been said to me in another thread on this subject, it is nothing more than an intro to Android. Expecting it to run like it does on an actual Android device is folly.

Re: Tried XDANDROID - *VERY* slow typing, characters double and triple typing.. Help!
Once you are used to implementing the many tweaks around, the experience of using Android often exceeds WM even in the limited glimpse we get on our non-android devices. Even without full functionality android is now the OS of choice on my phone and I only use WM for my wifi router connection... other than that I'm mainly in Android these days. I have no doubt my next device will be an android phone now.

Re: Tried XDANDROID - *VERY* slow typing, characters double and triple typing.. Help!
I use BT too much and need more than just 5 hours battery time for this to be more than just something to play with. Like I said, I will probably move to an Android phone, but thanks to this trial I know it doesn't have to be soon.
While we're discussing this, maybe someone can tell me how to install 3rd party apps in XDAndroid? Does it use .cab files or some other type? Where's the file explorer? Why do some programs show up in the Applications tab as being installed, but I can't find an icon anywhere to run them? Digital Rain being one. And what format do my movies have to be in to play in Android? It doesn't like my .3gp movies that play great in WM. And how do I get rid of all those download indicators in the Taskbar after installing programs from Market? How do I switch between tasks? Can't seem to find a Task Manager. How do I close a program? No X in the corner and hitting Back doesn't always close the program. Been having to wade over to Settings>Application Management>Select the program and Force Close for some of them. How do I sync my Outlook calendar and contacts or am I forced to use Google for that. |

Re: Tried XDANDROID - *VERY* slow typing, characters double and triple typing.. Help!
Well, I wiped the current version of XDANDROID and started fresh with the RAR file I listed in post #1. I removed the SIM card as an additional form of troubleshooting.
Without clicking Update or changing any advanced settings, I booted into XDANDROID. In summary, after several runs (4-5?) it has forced my phone to reboot at least twice, it has displayed a "Close or wait" dialog for the base system (before the home screen is displayed) at least once (close did nothing, left my TP2 unresponsive), and the maybe 2 times I've managed to get in and start the Market app, the same problem I had in post #1 with the extremely slow loading & typing, and random characters double and triple typing, they all are still there. With Android in this state, is a candidate for immediate removal from my phone. A shame - I was hoping to at least be able to get into the Market, but I can't even get that far. |

Wow! Not sure why you're having so many issues. Other than seeing the Close/Wait box at different times (I always click wait) XDAndroid has worked out of the box for me on my Tilt 2. No issues with the network or with setting up Wifi. Downloaded over a dozen apps from Market and have even OC'ed it to 700mhz (I think it runs best at 600mhz). It isn't speedy by any measure, but it works fine for me. Still, without BT and the crappy battery life it is just a play toy for me.
