Booting Android deletes Playlists
Hello,
Every time I boot into the BLAZN variant of Android (I haven't tried Vanilla), all the *.pls playlist files stored on my TP2's memory card are deleted. I use these as shoutcast bookmarks for GSPlayer and Kinoma. Does anyone have an idea as to what process might be removing these files, and how I can prevent it from happening again whilst still making the files accessible to Android? Thanks! |

Where do you store these *.pls files...? If they're just sitting at the root of your sd have you tried putting them in a folder? I've never heard of this before. |
Re: Booting Android deletes Playlists
Storage Card\My Music\STATIONS\genre\*
EDIT: Forgot to mention that this behavior persists even after I format the card as FAT32 using defaults in Windows 7. |

It's BLAZN. No clue why or how, but on Reference I don't get the issue. |
Re: Booting Android deletes Playlists
Ah. Thanks for the assurance that I'm not going crazy :thumbleft:
Is there a bugtracker for BLAZN that I should be submiting this to? I noticed on both the XDA and PPCG threads that they're not intended for customer support. |

Re: Booting Android deletes Playlists
So this is very odd. First boot I just recreated the folder structure and threw some .pls files in there. They all got wiped when I booted into BLAZN. Then when I booted reference, I put some .pls files in there with a bunch of other files. Nothing got removed. So I removed everything but the .pls files, booted reference again and nothing got removed. Booted BLAZN again and STILL nothing was removed. All the .pls files were still there.
So it was only that first boot. I don't get it... |

Interesting. I wish I could reproduce that somehow, but with my luck those files get hosed every time I boot. |

I used to use BLAZN, but now I'm running reference (10/25), with the latest rootfs and kernel (11/8 and 11/3, respectively). It's possible, however, that I'm still carrying an app or other left over file from BLAZN. arrrghhh -- if you get a chance, can you check if this issue is reproducible for you? Thanks a lot! |
Found a fix! Re: Booting Android deletes Playlists
Folks,
After some digging, I found a fix! ...or at least a work-around. Create an empty file called ".nomedia" in every folder where Android is deleting "playlist" files. This finally solved my problem of losing WeatherPanel layout (.wpl) files on every Android boot! I think a .nomedia file tells Android's media scanner to ignore that folder. I'm not sure why Android is deleting playlists, or why it's not consistent across builds. Again though, adding .nomedia files solved my problem with this issue. |
Re: Found a fix! Re: Booting Android deletes Playlists
Where did you find that?
Haven't given this too much attention lately, as it was inconsistent for me at best... Hey, a workaround is a workaround. Let us know if it works guys! |
