CyanogenMod 6.0][03-10-2010][V1.0]

I know this is posted under the TP forums but this also works on our TP2's. So i thought i would post it here. I have recently tried this out and wow it is ridiculously fast. It runs damn near as fast as my friends moto droid 1 and the fps score in neocore was only 3 fps seconds less! He was also running the cyanrogen rom. I guess this Neopeek guy takes all the custom final android roms and ports them over for use on our WinMo phones. I just wanted to give people a heads up over here if they wanted to try something different.

The original thread is here [CyanogenMod 6.0][03-10-2010][V1.0] | Neopeek - Network

The install instructions are alot different than just placing the files on the storage card so make sure that you read the install guide found here

The Mother Tutorial - How to's/Where's/When's? - All right here! | Neopeek - Network

The only thing that doesn't work out of the box is the 3g data. You have to go to settings - wireless & networks - Mobile Networks - access point names - than hit the windows button and select new apn

for sprint the settings are

Name - Sprint
APN = #777

for Verizon
Name = Verizon
APN = #777
Username = your phone number@vzw3g.com
password= vzw

for both leave everything else blank

if you are on a different provider i do not know the settings sorry maybe try google??
when you are done hit the windows button and select save. back out and check the box so its highlighted green. give it a second and it will work.

The mic also still needs to be activated by calling your voicemail in windows and putting it on speaker phone before loading haret for it to work.

Enjoy!

I tried this build and although it's a little faster than Reefer's builds, the battery life on Reefer's builds are significantly better. I'm sticking with his builds. Thanks for this post though.

I've been using this setup for a month or two and I find it to be more stable than the xdandroid build. Just make sure you follow the instructions on partitioning your card otherwise you're in for a headache.

and fwiw, 3g worked right out of the box for me, but I'm on Sprint so that might be why.

And there's actually a few different ports for this setup

Hi, just wondering if you could guide me through how you set yours up. I formatted my memory card correctly but when I try to install from npkinstall I'm getting an error when it says its going to format the card which basically says it cant find what its looking for. I've extracted the files to the root of my micro sdhc card. Any tips?

So what actually works and what doesn't in this build?

Hardware? Nothing will work that doesn't work in XDAndroid (BT, camera, etc), they use the same kernel.

Did you make sure that you made all three of the partitions primary? And the ext2 shouldn't be over 512 and the linuxswap 64. Also something I did was I copied the image from the root and overwrite the zimage in the npkinstall folder before I installed it. And also you can use any kernel
With this build even he new battery fix one which works really well.

I didn't post this because I thought one was better than the other just wanted to let people know that there is other builds out there to tinker around with. I did have a real good experience with this build though.

In my quest to play Angry Birds, I have been testing out both versions. Both have small advantages. Neo seems to be a little more polished as smaller features such as the volume control work exactly like they should. This might just be because the xda guys are more worried about the bigger picture, such as adding sound, bluetooth, etc. But other items, such as network speed seems faster on xda. I also like the launcher that xda uses better though.

They are both really close overall. I have no idea why Angry Birds would work on Neo though, and not xda. That is very odd. I am glad that we do have choices, and would think that both teams could learn from each other.

Hi, thanks for the info, yes I made all three partitions primary however the ext2 partition was slightly larger than 512, in the instructional video he has it around 600.. that is too large? I will try it with a smaller size than 512 and see what happens.

Man I just cannot get this working, its saying that it can't find androidinstall.tar.gz ... however this file is definitely in the folder. I pasted all of the files to the root of my sdcard as well, is it looking for them to be in a folder of some sort? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I followed the instruction to the letter and it worked just fine. Maybe clear your sd card and start over. I also set my ext and linuxswap per the video. I used the rest of the available memory for the fat32 partition.

i would try and re download it than make sure u partition correctly with the app also before you run the npkinstall copy the zimage from the root (where the haret is) and overwrite the one in the npkinstall folder. i dont know if it makes any difference but i did it on mine and didnt do it on my girls and mine seemed faster...also you have to change the rhodium.txt to startup.txt in the npkinstall folder. than run npkinstall..sound like maybe you didnt rename that file. i also i changed the force cdma to 1 and rhod210 to rhod400(sprint) in the rhodium.txt(which i renamed to startup.txt) not sure if that makes a difference at all either.

also in the root folder there is a subfolder called startups. you have to find your phone and than copy the startup.txt to the root folder(where haret is) before you boot it. i did all this before running npkinstall and while it was still connected to my computer that way i could just run the npkinstall and when that finished boot the haret

Thanks for the info, yeah I've done all that that's why I'm a little frustrated. This is definitely not my first time setting something like this up, and I've followed everything you guys said to the letter, I've reformatted my card a couple times, I changed the startup.txts, put one at root and changed the one in the npk folder to startup. I'm going to try and download it again, maybe I just got a faulty file.

Huh, I do see something interesting. After I formatted the card and ran the npkinstall it gave me the error, however when I use my card reader to rewipe my microsd its showing that the linux swap partition I made is now an EXT2 partition. Anybody know if that's how it should be?

You need to use that special program to view those non-windows partitions.

Re: CyanogenMod 6.0][03-10-2010][V1.0]

Huh, well looks like it was a problem with that specific download, I finally got it working. So far it runs well, unfortunately 3.5mm jack doesn't work with this build either and I wasn't able to install angry birds which was unfortunate. Overall though this build is definitely quick and seems to be spot on as far as the battery is concerned.

Re: CyanogenMod 6.0][03-10-2010][V1.0]

Neopeek's build works quite well for me. 3D is working, and the reboot option on the end key menu is there.

AngryBirds runs, though there is some random graphical glitching which can be fixed by reloading the screen.

I've run into two random reboots, which I hadn't been seeing on XDAndroid.

Once you go to the trouble of setting up the SD card to work with Neopeek's build, you can actually still put XDAndroid into an andboot folder on the SD card and dual boot them.
