Browser , Google Maps and Skyfire not working on Android Froyo 8/30 Blazn release
 

Hey everyone ..first i want to say sorry if this has been posted before , if so please dont flame me because ive honestly searched for days..anyway ..i downloaded the 8/30 blazn cab reformatted my sd card and all ,installed the cab ..everything works perfect ..sound and all but i have no browser ,google maps i even tried skyfire .When i try and open any of those they start to load then the phone just restarts back into win mo :scratch: ive tried the reference cab ..even switched the rom i was using to something lighter to no avail ..the first version of android i used worked ok but was kinda slow and laggy and of course no sound but at least internet worked :dontknow: the thing that really baffles me is that android market works fine , its just those 3 ,has anyone else had this issue ??? any fixes ??? if so can someone point me in the right direction ??? and on a side note ..is it me or is the advanced search feature on this site a pain in the rear ???i havent been able to use that since i first started on this site with my apache ..lol..anywho ..all advice is greatly appreciated..Thanks ..oh and btw im using a
vzw tp2 with Mr X rom 6.5 with Sense 2.5

Don't use the cab version. Format your SD card and start with a fresh build. Update the rootfs, zImage/modules and see how it works.

FYI, I've NEVER had this issue on my RAPH or RHOD.

well ..tried that and no go ..did the latest blazn rar and i got no phone or data ..managed to connect to wifi and sure enough as soon as i opened the browser it reset ..tried the build i used b4 where data worked and same thing ..phone reset ..maybe its my phone ..i give up ..lol ..im gettin super frustrated ..guess i'll just have to wait and get a real droid..thanks a bunch for your help though ..

what size card are you using? Is there enough space on the card? Is ur startup.txt and default.txt set to force cdma connection? I had an issue w/ phone and internet and had to change the default.txt to force cdma and it's been fine, no issues w/ google maps, browser, etc. As far as the resetting in concerned, it may be due to space available on the sd card itself, but not sure on that one.

Yea you have to do some reading dude! If you're using a CDMA device, you have to have the force CDMA command enabled in your startup.txt, as was stated previously. That will fix your phone/data woes.

Did you format your card as well...? For whatever reason that has caused strange issues. Plus, I've also heard if you're not using a class 4+ card, it can also act funky... Like I said, I've NEVER had the issues you describe. I have had random resets/reboots... but not every single time I open the browser.

im using a sandisk 2 gb card , before android install there was like 700 or so MB on it , after running android there was like maybe 300 or so but yea i was thinking it might be the card as well. As far as the startup text your right it wasnt set to force cdma so that explains my phone not working but even through wifi when i pulled up the browser it goes to the google home page loads the whole page then ..blank turns black then it says touch pro 2 and well u know the rest ..lol ..im gratefull for your help though..thank you

like i said to fishingmedic u are right i didnt change the startup text however do u think that would affect wifi connectivity ??? also ,with the risk of sounding noobish what does class 4 mean ???is that anything to do with size ??? like i said im using a sandisk 2 gb ..one thing ive noticed is like 75-80% of everyone on the cdma threads are using sprint ..do u think that could be it ??? its just weird that i tried the old one i used where the browser worked and that one doesnt even work anymore..i did format the card , once with the built in option in the phone settings and again from my pc with an app i got from the tutorial on this site ..whats also strange is that i can go into the android market and download apps but as soon as i use other internet based apps it reboots..i would love to have android with the tilt screen..hopefully in the future htc will have a phone like that running android ..again thanks 4 your help ..

The class designation for SD cards relates to speed, I have an 8g class 6 which is faster than an 8g class 2. I do occasionally have a random reboot also, sometimes it just restarts android, sometimes tosses me back to WM and I've got over 4g free on my class 6 card. I was talking to Psychomaniac the other day and we were just tossing thoughts around, wondering if it is just the sd card not having enough space to cache stuff, etc and then just rebooting when it doesn't. Sounds like that might be a possibility but im not completely sure. If you've got the spare change, try picking up a 8g class 6 from newegg or other places online, they're not too expensive and well worth it for any use, not just running android.
