Thanks for the info & your post here.. welcome! But... so many links everywhere & you're website no longer has your builds available to DL... LINKS PLEASE?!
(checked out your band pic, cool... i'm a retired (gave it up for kids) 20 yr sax player myself :>))

Here's the links I have, what am I missing?
~~~~~ standard stuff ~~~~~~~~~~
Latest full buildfiles.xdandroid.com
htc-msm-linux @ 20110627_223755 from here, (.27)
newest rootfs,
newest initramfs
~~~~~ newest/edge stuff ~~~~~~~~~~~~
.39 & .30 Kernals http://autobuild.wirelesstcp.net/
https://gitorious.org/linux-msm-rhod/linux-msm-rhod

What else??

LOVE the 27th .27 by the way (except no wifi & usb says driver won't install)
THANKS TONS for all your work!!!!!

I've had little/no luck with either. For USB both my XP & Win 7 say, can't USB install driver.. I know easy tether requires a DL for it, but I figured the OS one didn't.. It's VERY possible I missed it somewhere on all the different websites & posts in each (&wiki)...
Wifi won't turn on..
You did mention the "latest Kernals"... I noticed in arrgghhhhs things Broken .39 post/thread: "The additional modules are now provided, however wifi is still broken... "
But now it looks like highland Suns fix, fixes this .39 kernal? Or the latest .27??

LOL but now that you mentioned it, I may not have deleted my data.img either :>)), I'm going to go & rename it now & try again, if neither, I can rename back so I don't loose all my apps.. (guess I could just backup also :>))

Here's my build, the latest of these (27th Kernal)
1. DL the Latest full build downloads: files.xdandroid.com
2. DL htc-msm-linux @ 20110627_223755 from here,
3. DL the newest rootfs,
4. DL the newest initramfs

Where did you carry you data.img from? Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm going to triage this and try to narrow it down, like I said the build I was testing on... wasn't exactly a production setup :p.

the data.img was from the FRX06 build that has been out since march. But everything else was from the latest batches. hopefully it's just my setup not something bigger.

Hrm, s/b fine. Might be something in the newest kernel... I still need moar time to triage, damned work!

Ok, found a little bit of time. So far on a clean FRX06 image (new data.img) with the newest components (kernel, initrd & rootfs) wifi tethering works great. It still has that nasty bug where disabling it blows stuff up (I couldn't disable it, the phone froze up) but prior to attempting to disable it, the thing did work. Trying USB tethering now...

Boom! USB tethering works as well. So give a new data.img a shot. Rename the old one to data.img.bak or something, let it create another one and give wifi/usb tethering a shot. Might be something from your data.img, dunno.

Again, for reference - I'm on rootfs-20110516-2d0bb0f, initrd-20110429-a3eace0.gz, kernel 20110627_223755 and vanilla FRX06. So basically all the newest stuffs from incremental updates.

Re - teradog - hyc pulled the links to his build... FRX07 will more or less be his build, just more polished (no offense hyc, your build was really for testing only anyways :p)

Thank you very much for testing it out. I guess I just need to suck up and start fresh. HAHAHA
BTW, just for clarification, when i drop in those new files I would need to remove all those build numbers in the end right? That is what i did and I renamed the older files xxxx_old. I'm just trying to cover all bases so i'm not accidentally still using an older file.

You never rename the modules file.

See Incremental Updates for more information...

Have to laugh... go figure... I always rebuild from bottom, the one time I got lazy & didn't recreate data.img, I get burned.. so yea, it works. (still have to test USB tether) (not BT, 3.5mm, etc.)

I've updated post 1 to indicate findings. The most amazing thing has happened: imho the best build is now xdandoid site & it's links to updates!!!! ALL IN ONE PLACE..

Having said that, we don't have a link to highlandsun's patch he mentioned above... but, wifi hotspot is working without anything extra from carrier (Sprint).

wifi hotspot appears to be a little screwy... takes a couple minutes to show & connect AND, if I turn off & back on again, it reboots TP2.

edit 1: jotting down a couple other items found...
- wifi router/hotspot seems to turn off if phone sleeps, set droid to not sleep if charging
- wifi router/hotspot works both open & with wpa-psk security
still takes a long time for it to show up on wifi list

seems that you have to set it up & then back hard key out one for it to take (either that or after 2 min it went & at same time i was so bored I hit key..>)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
USB not working,
XP in Android help, says u need to dl a file to XP box, tetherxp.inf... which I will do next, but says nothing on win7 box... will also read xdandroid faq/wiki on usb to see if I can find anything...
OK, had an old tetherxp.inf in windows dir, from a year ago..?, so replaced it with newer on.
On windows 7 Android help says it works... but not on mine... device mangler says xda dev installed OK when usb connected, & then when hit tether box (ck on) it disapears from storage dev & becomes a dev called simply xda & has a problem.. still working on it.
edit/update #2: USB working
VERY COOL STUFF HERE NOW!!!!!!!
Will update with more later, be happy!
Yea, wireless tether isn't so stable. Disabling it is pretty much impossible (my phone froze solid, yours rebooted :p) but USB tethering works like a champ. I used it for quite some time, all day long.
So I started with a new data.img. But my USB tethering still doesn't work. I'm not sure what I am not doing right. should I enable or disable the usb debugging mode?
