I may have found out why Andriod suks the living daylights out of the battery...

I have done a "Touchstone" mod to my phone, And found something interestiing.

When i did the mod, I also installed an led in the receiving end of the touchstone inductance charger to checkup on its status. See pics here:
hehe, did my NDSi too :P

Anywho... I found something interesting..

Now i know our chipsets dont support USB Host mode..
But, For some reason, The usb port on the phone Will
output 5v during bootup for a second or two.
Being that my touchstone mod has a blue led on it for
testing purposes, It will light up when the phone is on
the touchstone base, plugged into a usb cable, OR,
When running Andriod!! So.... Thats why i think our
phnes suck that battery down like mad. Something in
the andriod kernel is enabling Power Out (5v) through
the usb port on the phone. It may be very little current,
But still may cause our power issue...

So, Hopefully, This info can be of good use to the developers :)

Ummm pardon my question because im really NOT trying to come off as rude..

but couldnt your "new theory" be as relative as a light socket?? sockets have power to them, if nothings plugged in, no powere is exchanged, thus no usage for you electric bill from said socket..

whys it not the same with the USB port?? of course it has power to it.. but if nothings plugged into it and power isnt being transferred anywhere, i dont see how your "theory" means anything...

i go back and forth between Android on WinMO and i get hours and hours out of Xandroid when i use it.. yes the battery meter is off, but you can get it close with some of those .apks that people made... but ive never once thought to myself, oh crap, my battery life is terrible now..

just saying..

i appreciate the info, and great job on the successful touchstone mod to your device(yay, magnets, batteries, electronics fun)..

Because the phone is Not supposed to supply a reverse current on
the USB port when sitting idle. And they dont work like lamp sockets :D

On an additional note (and this is probably incredibly obvious to people)
the led stays light throughout my android operations, which is bound to consume some energy.

Any fixes for this?

Perhaps I wasn't clear.
I know what you were saying, I'm just saying there's another source of possible energy use. To which I would like to know if there is a fix.
Thanks

so what im gathering is in a sense the kernal is "tricking" the phone into having something pluged in that would be using that 5v output, which makes me wonder more about the usb transfer also not working? if it thinks there is something there then maybe its also keeping it from going into usb mode?
