Since FROYO is Beta, does it make more sense to use 2.1?

It seems like everyone's talking abotu 2.2. I was just wondering which is more stable to use? And will development continue for 2.1 or did everyone jump ship to FROYO?

I've been using the froyo beta for 2 days now (and my wife has as well) and I think it's pretty stable (all things considered)

hope this helps

Aren't all the builds "beta" at this point? :joker:

Yes, they are. Some work builds work better that others. As development continues, the users, us, will shift to which ever works the best.

Just a quick question, What all can we (and can't we) get outta Froyo right now?

and if there is no sound, does that mean there is no ability to place or receive phone calls?

I believe Froyo has everything working that the regular build does, besides WiFi. (There might be on other thing that isn't working, but I'm not sure exactly what that is).

What they mean by no sound is that you can't use the rear speaker of the phone. You are still able to use the ear piece (although kind of quiet) and the Microphone. But you are not able to use such things as speakerphone, or ringtones and media. Hope this answers your question.

The slight UI enhancements in Froyo and the native Outlook support were enough for me to jump to it. I'm only in Android for relatively short bursts, but I still want/need Exchange support. I know you can do it via app pre-Froyo, but it's just one less thing to worry about.

So then this build is running smoother then 2.1 Eclair?

Eclair (with Sense UI) was neat and all, but the HORRIBLE lag time made it not worth it (IMO)

It was like being in 1997 with dial-up and my IBM Aptiva

The lag is still nothing compared to the lag in WM.
I would say my 2.2 with Mario live wallpapaer with 5 widgets runs smoother than WM that's been running for more than 5 hours.

I just started using it at 4pm today and I'm beyond impressed. If the ringing worked and I didn't so many SoD, I would convert to it. oh and the battery life would have to go up...
