The Smoothest running Android Sense 2.1 experience ever with latest rootfs 07/01/2010
Hi everybody I am stoked about the new android rootfs-latest.zip found at this website http://xdandroid.southcape.org/rootfs/ and the latest Android Version 2.1 w/ Sense UI View found at this website http://sites.google.com/site/androidport/downloads. ACL suggested a while back that I start an Android Version 2.1 w/ Sense UI thread for him. So I finally found the time to do it. I want to give thanks to XDANDROID Eclair team for rootfs-latest.zip and Matthew Gonzales, Reefermattness, and everybody who contributed in making Android Version 2.1 w/ Sense UI View truly an awesome experience. Please give it a try you won't regret it.
1. Download both files with the hyperlinks above. 2. Copy the Android Version 2.1 w/Sense UI cab on to your sd card. 3. Install the Android Version 2.1 w/ Sense UI View cab. Configure Android to your liking. 4. Unzip the latest rootfs and rename it rootfs and copy it to your touch pro sd card in the andboot file. 5. Rerun the Android icon on your touch pro 2 and your are finished. Enjoy a smoother Android Version 2.1 w/Sense UI experience. I also recommend when upgrading to do it manually with replacing the rootfs file from the http://xdandroid.southcape.org/rootfs/ website. |

I don't know why my vzw tp2 never made it which always stuck in the booting screen.

Does this build/setup still have the issues where you cant search the market place or use search option on most browsers and also the issue where you cant set/edit some of the Sense widgets? Those are the main reasons I dont use the sense build. Other then that I enjoy it better then the regular Android builds.

Re: The Smoothest running Android Sense 2.1 experience ever with latest rootfs 07/01/
jamice4u, thanks for putting this up. Ive been meaning to do but i kept forgetting. Im interested to see where mathew gonzales got his build since Klinux and i were the original masterminds of the sense ui formula. I just like to give credit where credit is due and Klinux put alot of hours mixing and matching libs to give everyone the best performance possible. Its not easy when you have a full time job.
More devs are getting involved with 3d, so soon i hope we can have an even smoother sense ui. |

I got it from Klinux himself, I was one of his first testers when he made his first build. Would tell him what wasn't working for the Rhod. :P |

When I click on the .Cab file, it immediately says installation unsuccessful. Anyone care to help me on this one please?
Thanks |

To Dimionix
Have you try to install it on SD card instead? |

Have you tried the rar? It might give you more control in installation.
|
Re: failed installation
How much room is left on your SD card? I installed for the first time yesterday and it was the easiest thing in the world.

No option to even create the Sprint APN and Internet.com, I don't know what else to do. The Cab version will not install on EnergyROM, when I use stock, it installs just fine. And network work. But I when I switch to EnergyROM, it always says installation Unsuccessful immediately I try to lunch the application to install. Anyone has an input here. I have the latest RootFS and all. Dont know what am doing wrong |

1. Trying to install the ROM into the internal memory of the touch pro 2. 2. Having the SIM card in the phone. 3. Maybe install the wrong version of the ROM on the work network for example install the sprint rom with rhod500 which is used for verizon. 4. Not having enough memory on your sd card. |

I have an 8GB Micro SD card with 7GB space left, I installed the right Sprint Stock ROM, and have no SIM Card inserted. I think it's just EnergyROM. Its not the first time that the installation of .cab file has failed me on his ROMS. :-) |
Re: The Smoothest running Android Sense 2.1 experience ever with latest rootfs 07/01/
Energy ROM are cutting edge but they have some bugs that don't get resolved. I am glad you figured it out. I am using Vins custom ROM's this dude fixes everything on his ROMs I would suggest you give his ROM a try you won't regret it. He has a Plutomium rom which is the 23XXX system build and the Neodium which is the 21XXX system build. I am currently using the 21908 with cookies 1.85.1.1 with no problems.

How does that 6.5 build run? I'm using Mr. X 6.18, which is 21903, with CHT 1.8.0.0 and it is slow as balls on my phone :-\ I'm beginning to think my TP2 is just a slouch because everyone else seems to think it flies! But even after flash dancing and Task29, I still have a sluggish phone. Even if there is nothing happening on the device, text entry is at least 10-20 characters behind, sometimes lagging by up to 50 or more! |

Every time I I try to do a search in Marketplace, it freezes the phone and then semi reboots back into the Android. Anyone has a fix for this?

Does anyone know what causes the temperature / location info to go missing on the htc clock? The last sense build i used had it fixed. Moving to the new rootfs has caused it to disappear again. This is using the htc scene
