is there a possibility that the htc incredible could be the key to getting a stable build of android on our touch pro 2. perhaps a port

not necessarily from the incredible, but 2.1 with senseui working:

Its not same hardware so we wont benefit from this. The klinux sensui build already has the desire apks ported to the touchpro2.

Also just because it is the same hardware doesnt guarantee that everything will work. I wish it did.

FYI, i got my hands on the incredible rom. I'll test it out later today to see if there are performance improvements over the current desire build. Lets hope its faster than the current one we are using.
