Re: WIN A FREE IPOD!!** (I HATE ADS)

So, I have a newfound respect for AdMob (The company behind the ads on Android & iPhone, etc...). From a buainess standpoint, they really capitalized on the opportunity, and in itself, it's a pretty brilliant idea as a business. They have really come pretty far in such a short amount of time (I was watching some YouTube videos about them).

I'd still like to know of a way to remove it from my phone. :/

I fully support developers and most certainly support the true modding community. And your assumptions that I don't are premature.

I wasn't trying to be a jerk but...ok. maybe I was. You made a very simplified and general statement about hating ads in applications and that you're glad you're "part of a modding community where this type of crap can be taken care of." There's only so much people can read into your statement and start making assumptions. Was that how I read your post? Honestly, yes. Two other posters alluded to the fact that ads serve as a source of revenue. This is the internet. People will have to make assumptions based on given information unless you're specific.

Your statement below:

It's the advertisements on our cell phones I have a problem with. I would prefer to have an ad free cell phone. I'm the type of person that will pay for a shirt that doesn't have any branding on it. Which also relates to my preference of paying for software that I don't have to have a popup on my frickin cell phone. That is very annoying to me. Some people don't mind, some do. To me, it's clutter, a waste of space, and I have never clicked on a banner ad (cell phone or computer). I prefer a clean, organized, uncluttered look. If we're talking about supporting software developers, I support them, but not enough to want popups on my phone. In anycase, I'll be looking into removing/blocking the ads from my cell phone. If the developers want to provide free software, great. If they want to charge, that's fine too. But don't clutter up my phone with junk I don't want.
is much clearer in why you dislike advertisement in applications. Had you said something to that effect earlier, the whole tone of this thread would probably not be about "the ads is for generating revenue" or "you can do X to bypass it". It would probably be different. I agree with EGOvoruhk, ask the developers to create an ad-free paid version and see what they say. Maybe I was harsh but I was trying to make a point. And since you do fully support the work of developers and all their efforts, then :occasion5:

I see your point. I should have been more clear by what I meant. It's not my intention to take away from developers, and not really being familiar to Android, I wasn't aware that many developers provide free apps by allowing ads.

I suppose I could contact the developers of an app with ads, and request a paid, no ad version (if at all possible).

In anycase, that ultimately what I'm looking to do - remove the ads from my phone. :)

Wow, I never realized they were putting ads in Android apps. I don't expect it to last long. People are already fed up with paying to see a movie and watch 10 minutes of commercials before the previews; I lump this in with that category.

While I agree with the OP... could you please change the topic title to something a little less Ad-Like... change it to something like Android App Ads or something...

"pot and kettle?" :angry7:

YouTube has done the same thing in many of their videos. I have a few videos on my YouTube page that have gotten a lot of hits, and YouTube says "make money with these videos. Place ads in them" (not said like that, but you get the point)

LMAO! I saw the thread title and I selected it for spam deletion... Good thing I check the posts before I actually delete the threads :D

EDIT: What did you want to change the title to? I'll take care of it for ya.
