Is there any way to get out of airplane mode? I'm using the Verizon TP2 with the fully cabbed version of Android (I don't remember the name). I want to be able to make calls and send texts (and use the data). Thanks!

PS, Wifi works just fine.

Is there any disadvantage in just leave SIM card out?

I've seen other threads (in main forum) of folks getting phones without a SIM and wanted a "dummy" SIM card in there for something.

nope. CDMA (sprint/verizon) phones use a CDMA network to do their stuff. the only reason a sim card is used is to enable the world phone function. you can take your phone overseas and it will connect to a GSM network that a particular provider has an agreement with. otherwise the sim function is practically useless unless you back up your contacts on them. there is an app you can download from the app market that will allow you to boot your android with a sim card in it and transfer your contacts, but you have to boot to android without a sim card and download the app, (or with sim card using wifi) then power off, put sim card in, boot back to android, power off, remove sim, then back to android.

pain in the butt but if you dont wanna sync with Gmail, one of the few alternatives.

So it has been awhile since this thread was used, but I didn't want to start another thread.
I posted a video of my Sprint TP2 booting up and what it does (and doesn't). I can't get a signal, or get out of Airplane mode. It does this funny flashing thing.
This is what I posted on Youtube: (you can search Sprint TP2 NRG n Android almost)

Sprint TP2 NRG n Android almost. I tried to use ProjectAndroid2.2BLAZN.080410, but when the phone went to boot, it said Android missing. So I'm trying to make RhodiumXDAndroid26.01.10 work. If anyone has a suggestion to make this work on my TP2, please feel free to make a suggestion. I started over with a new flashed ROM (Energy.RHODCDMA.23678.Sense2.1.Aug.18) and a formatted SD card. SIM card is removed. I'm using GenY-DualBOOT-v1.0.6.0-CAB and it boots to Android, I just can't use any of features, like marketplace, until I get a signal.
Thanks to anyone who has a suggestion

Nobody has nothing? Not even a suggestion? I've seen enough video of Android working on a TP2, that someone must know what I'm doing wrong. Thank you to anyone that takes the time to watch my video and send me a suggestion.
P.S. I got the flashing/pulsing to stop but I still can't get out of airplane mode. And it's not even checked in setting! If I do check it, go back to the home page, then go back to settings, it is now unchecked, crazy1 ](*,)](*,)

Re: Stuck in Airplane mode

Wow, I'm a dummy. I was stuck in Airplane mode all last night, frustrated, rebooting, then today I just remembered, "hey, didn't I post something in the forum with this exact question"? So I Googled "ppcgeeks.com whiteblazer01 stuck in airplane mode" (so I can bring up my post), and I read the 2nd post (which solved my problem last time), and DUH! I am using a new replacement T2 I just got yesterday - and it had a SIM card in it!! SIM card out, and problem solved. Whadda dummy!! LOL

PS, for those stuck in Airplane mode without a SIM card, I don't have an answer. :(

Re: Stuck in Airplane mode

I remember reading that with the SIM card in, if you change the network in windows from Global to CDMA only, Android will boot and you will have signal. I just tried it and it works. Hope that helps!

I find that if I try and load haret while I'm plugged in and charging I get stuck in airplane mode. If I boot android without the phone plugged in it works fine.

Re: Stuck in Airplane mode

Was there any solution to this that I missed in the FAQ's and such? I searched, but I'm having the same problem as others. No SIM card in, sometimes the phone boots up fine with 3G and CDMA working, then sometimes it boots into Airplane mode (which can't be shut off, or if it is shut off, the network doesn't come back on), or as is the current instance, was working fine with 3G/CDMA, then the screen shut off, now Airplane mode.

Post your startup.txt's please, and don't use the so-called 'startup utility' - only launch haret directly.

Here's what I have. I'd like to add pm.sleep=1 or 2 in there, and something to get rid of the battery low message. But here's how it stands.

set ramsize 0x10000000
set ramaddr 0x10000000
set mtype 2292
set KERNEL zImage
set initrd initrd.gz
set cmdline "lcd.density=240 msmts_calib=0x9f.0x39a.0x35c.0x78 msmvkeyb_toggle=off pmem.extra=1 gsensor_axis=2,1,3 rel_path=andboot north_am_dialing=0 force_cdma=1 hw3d.force=0 physkeyboard=rhod400"
boot

Hrm, you have some deprecated commands in thar... I bolded/put them in red. You also said you have the SIM out, which is good... I hear you can't boot with a SIM in and use CDMA. It could just be the issue that I've experienced where the phone's radio just seems to flake out. Yours is definitely more pronounced in your description, usually my phone's radio will completely disable itself, then if I wait a few seconds it'll re-enable and start working. However, this usually happens when I'm on a phone call...

Also, there's a couple of commands in blue that are odd to me. If you use north_am_dialing, it should =1. If you don't need it, don't include it :p

In addition, why don't you enable hw3d...?

I added the pm.sleep command as well, for reference.

Don't take this the wrong way, but hitting thanks for someone who takes the time to analyze your startup, give you some recommendations, etc, would show him you appreciate it. It doesn't give anyone a reward, other than a higher rep level which many people appreciate (I don't personally care about mine lol, but I make a point to hit thanks for people that help me or others). Especially someone like Arrrrghhhh who answers many questions here and helps everyone, even if peeps ask a question that was just previously answered (not implying you at all, seriously, take a look through some of the threads and you'll understand what I mean )

I have a similar problem. I did boot into Android when I disabled GSM, worked great the first time, now, no service. Card is still in. I will try it with it out. Strange it would work the first time.

I took out my SIM card when I first started playing around, but IIRC it's hit or miss with the SIM in and trying to use a CDMA phone. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. And I also will very infrequently boot into android and not have service, kinda seems like if I try to boot up without a good signal, it won't connect, then I just reboot into winmo and boot back to android when I've got a good signal to start and it's fine. YMMV though with the SIM in.

This could be more right.. I have plenty of successive boots where, when the SIM is in, I have service... I also have plenty of times where i get airplane mode when the SIM is in as well though..... i even get times where i can manually uncheck airplane mode and itll connect, plus others will it wont..

I just leave mine out.. Im finding Im using Uzard less and less anyways, so I dont really need my SIM in anyways lol

I had no idea that "Thanks" button was even there. I've never seen that on a forum before. "Thanked" him for being a helpful guy.

I found that if I enable GSM and then disable it again in WinMo it seems to work fine. Now if someone just had an extra 500Mhz laying around so I can get angry birds working smooth.
Android works much better than I ever thought possible.
