Wow guys. Any chance of "burning" out the processor with these overclocking speeds? Do we need a water cooling system?

worst case we OC it and burn it up then get replaced w/a nexus one or evo (supersonic) :headbang: (sprint only)

No such luck for me... I'm on SERO. Sprint prevents that plan from working with Android phones. :(

That's why this project is so attractive to Sprint users.

Speaking of overclocking, anyone know whatever happened to no2chem? He was the guy that got overclocking working on the TP, then he got a TP2 and disappeared. Unfortunately it seems like the last work he did was for nuebattery on the tp2. It's a shame since the overclocking we're seeing with android should be possible in winmo as well, I'm sure it'd make it a lot snappier.

I do not want to break up the overclocking party guys but I need some guidance as to why mine keeps hanging on the load when the text is loading. It always stops saying:

26.443542] note: mmcqd[40] exited with preempt_count 1

I have put all the files on my sd card into "win mobile" folder and put the files extracted from the single compilation into the root of the sd card and that didn't work. I have also put all the files into "andboot" folder while keeping the rootfs file on the root of the sd card and same results.

By the way I am running an energy rom at the moment. However, the Droid 3.10.10 Flyers All packaged compilation did work with this same energy rom.
Any help will be appreciated it.
TIA.

Just a random question I haven't seen asked here, why does enabling hardware 3d acceleration disable the nice Nexus one boot splash?

I've known it was an issue the moment it was first posted but never messed with cmdline changes until tonight getting off work seeing the latest and greatest with overclocking. So all in all was just wondering if anyone here knew the specifics as to why the hardware acceleration disables the bootsplash.

Thanks.

Actually he did make an overclocking application for the TP2 that would have it go to 768Mhz under windows but it was only reported to work on a few devices. Most would just lock up or reboot. I think he gave up on it since he was working on it back in September.

backup the SD card (copy all files onto your computer) then wipe that card.
download the zip file and drop all files on your SD card, you'll then be all set.
On the first boot it will take a few minutes to setup the data file but after that the boot should be 2x faster.

I deleted then copied these files: modules, zimage, & rootfs
working fine here.
I love how you don't need to recreated the data.img (personalized settings) for the phone every time you update these files!!

Did anyone besides me with a Rhod500 (Verizon) use Zimage Build: htc-msm-android@20100324_120347? I tried it before anyone commented on it and now it's too late, I've lost wake up control (the top and reset buttons do nothing in Windows Mobile now) and notification lights don't light up either. Has anyone figured out how to fix this?

Nothing has fixed this issue of mine yet: re-done HardSPL, Radio, Hard Reset, and the next zimage htc-msm-android@20100324_160209

I'd have to say that it's upsetting because another user commented that it overwrote a chip... I don't know how I even beging to solve that and I didn't get the extra insurance on my device. <crap>

No, but I see another user with a RHOD100 with the same issue. They posted a new module and zImage.

I am using it on a Rhod 400 and not experiencing any issues. Not sure if it helps you or not, I am running the new Stock 6.5 Sprint ROM and Radio. I am unlocked though. No issues. Sorry to hear your woes.

Yep, it worked great for me to test a script for the US Cellular data issue. I wanted to verify that data still was not working before I posted a revised fix for it.

Anyone with data issues from USCC, and possible others, can find my revised steps to fix data here...

Please use the thanks button if this helps you. Also, thank eval- since that is source of my information to make the script.

I have the rhod500 and was running the htc-msm-android@20100324_120347 image all day today since it came out practically. I just rebooted into WM and I am able to use the top button perfectly fine. Also the LED seems to be working just fine. I am using the most up to date files other than that.

It might very well be ROM related. Maybe something in the ROM caused an issue when Android was ran. I run the new Stock Sprint 6.5 ROM. I know that doesn't help you on Verizon. But maybe the ROM you were using before is coincidental?

my question is ..i always hear how people say haret knocks WM out of memory ..if thats true then why do you have to do the backlight "hack" or how come in the early days you had to call in WM and then run haret.. if its knocking it out none of those things should matter ..no?

It's not messing with WinMo, it's messing with the hardware itself. Meaning it doesn't work in Android or WinMo

Because WinMo is currently using the hardware, so it looks different then when things are disabled/enabled. Kind of like how in the earlier builds, you needed to make a phone call before booting, or else the ear piece wouldn't work. It was a cheap trick so that Android could realize some hardware was there

Yes and no- I'm not sure if I can explain this correctly, but there are certain non-volatile parts of memory (memory registers, I believe) which supersede the OS and control things like the current state of hardware. For example, when you activate a phone on Sprint for the first time, you need to enter the QPST menu and enter your MDN, etc... (if you've ever swapped phones, you might remember having someone tell you enter some numbers like this). Then allow data to be provisioned, update the PRL, etc... Many of these registers will survive a hard reset. They exist outside of the OS.

If Android is expecting the hardware to be in a certain state and the registers report otherwise, it can cause unexpected behavior.

Not sure if I made it clearer or more complicated, but yes HAret really does knock WM out of RAM.

Just an update in my saga: I flashed back to stock Verizon ROM and did a *228, but still I have no LED notifications, no wake up button on top doesn't work, and the hardware reset button doesn't work.

I'm absolutely convinced that something in the Android boot loader has overwritten hardware (reprogrammed a chip or something).

Just a caution to everyone else: HaRet can load things that modify your hardware! Be careful, always let someone else try the build before you put them on your phone. I should have never jumed the gun!

htc-msm-android@20100324_120347 has altered my Touch Pro 2 in negative and possibly unreversable ways (so far there are only 2 others that this has happened to that I know of)](*,)

Wow sorry to hear that, I wouldnt even try to install Haret if I didnt have insurance on my phone. Seems kind of crazy considering the phone retails for $489! Does installing a different kernal and zimage do anything?

Good luck

Running Sprint TP2 - Didn't get data the first time, removed the sim card and data worked, but then when I put it back in it stopped working.

Didn't most people claim that after achieving 3G one time you could put the sim card back and it would work? Any advise?

I don't know if you have tried, but I was told to have you try a Cold boot which means pulling battery, and leaving it out for a bit before putting it back in. And then seeing if that fixes your issue. I would pull the battery and leave it out for a couple of minutes and then put back in. Of course not plugged into anything during this time. Report back so we all know.

Sorry again you are having your issues.

Some have claimed, but I would imagine it would fail sooner or later. Do you have a reason to have the SIM in? Why fight it?

you have to sync your contacts to gmail while in windows mobile. it only takes a minute to do that. instructions here http://www.google.com/support/mobile...36&topic=14299
then when you boot into android and it does it's auto sync, all your contacts will be there.

I haven't had the chance to leave the battery out for more than a few minutes yet. The other odd thing I notice is that if I hit the top wake button while it is on, it turns the screen backlight off and I can't get the backlight to turn back on. I know the phone is still alive though because "My Mobiler" remote program shows my screen and I can even touch the screen to navigate blindly. This is all through Windows Mobile of course.

Another thing to try. And I understand this is just reaching. But I have heard of others back in just WM land itself that first flash doesn't work. I would recommend ya try this while we are hashing things out. Flash back to the Stock rom like 3 times in a row. Flash once, then when done, flash again and then again. I would while the display is still working for you, do the actual Clear Storage in Settings instead of the button hard reset. Then let me know.
