Benchmark of Android on the TP2
Let's keep the benchmark results in this thread.
Please post: --Windows ROM --Android kernel and modules version --SD info (make, size, class) --Benchmark results --Benchmark program used If you think of anything else to add, I'll update this post to include it. |

Re: Benchmark of Android on the TP2
Just transferring my results from the other thread.
I agree we need a different form of benching although nothing is going to be perfect. Using BenchmarkPI 13990 13720 13780 13720 This is on ENERGY LEO Mar 7 This is using the cflynt posted kernal 2010317_005013-tssfix This is my gummed up andriod including live wallpapers. and every download installed with crap running in the background. Mem card is A-Data 8 gig turbo Class 6 Battery under 30% Something like this pi calculation is purely cpu speed. Not sure how good of a test this is. There will be alot of different bottle necks on running andriod off the SD. *EDIT* A little more looking around i didnt see to much in the way of benchmarking android i did see "Quadrant" although its not out yet. |

Re: Benchmark of Android on the TP2
Just tried a program i downloaded from
http://droidbench.googlecode.com/files/android_benchmark0.4.zip It has a drive benchmark built in. Although i wouldn't really recommend this app either lol Write Seq: 362 Random: 145 Read Seq:48 Random:47.142857 Delete Delete:530 |
Re: Benchmark of Android on the TP2
I searched the marketplace for "benchmark" and the first result was Benchmark by Softweg. It tests memory, 2d graphics, file access & CPU.
I'm running the last zImage and modules that cflynt posted here. I'm running the stock VZW 6.5 rom and killed everything in Android before I ran the benchmark. SD is a Sandisk 8GB class 4. The program spits out a CSV file, which I've copied and pasted below; HTC XDANDROID google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.1/ERD72/22132:user/release-keys Processor ARMv6-compatible processor rev 2 (v6l) Linux BogoMIPS 527.56 Memory RAM 174492 Memory SWAP 0 Graphics Total graphics score;6.8571744 Draw opacity bitmap;2.5504358;MPixels per sec Draw transparent bitmap;1.6436597;MPixels per sec CPU Whetstone Total CPU score;140.40349 MWIPS DP;10.822511;MWIPS(DP) MWIPS SP;9.451796;MWIPS(SP) MFLOPS DP;2.164386;MFLOPS(DP) MFLOPS SP;2.5347352;MFLOPS(SP) VAX MIPS DP;7.4299073;VAX MIPS(DP) VAX MIPS SP;6.6079783;VAX MIPS(SP) Memory Total memory score;114.51613 Copy memory;104.05827;Mb/sec Filesystem Total file system score;33.955757 Creating 1000 empty files;3.89;sec Deleting 1000 empty files;2.42;sec Write 1M into file;5.8139534;M/sec Read 1M from file;62.5;sM/sec; SD card perfomance Creating 250 empty files;14.0;sec Deleting 250 empty files;2.8;sec Write 1M into file;4.5454545;M/sec Read 1M from file;58.82353;sM/sec; Don't really know what all this means, but it looks like a good benchmark program. |

but where it says cmdline="there will be a bunch of stuff here" Just add it inside of the quotes as the first thing and make sure you have a space after it. Replace the XXXXXX with the frequency you want in Khz not Mhz. acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=XXXXXX You have to enter speeds in Khz though so 528000 = 528Mhz Stock speed 700000 = 700Mhz 768000 = 768Mhz Reported to be stable And so on. |

Re: Benchmark of Android on the TP2
I don't have any Android phone, but I wonder what file system Android run on officially. I wonder if FAT32 hamper the performance a bit. At stock speed, Xandroid run too slow for my liking. Maybe it require a dedicated GPU.

Re: Benchmark of Android on the TP2
I came to realize I was using an older rootfs so I'm not sure if I was actually overclocked at all. So I updated to the rootfs.img here. I also updated to the latest zimages and modules cflynt uploaded here. Those files may be on the autobuild site by now, haven't checked though.

There are very minor differences between a bunch of apps running and after killing them. CPU is all that showed a large change. Quote:
