HTC is currently in good terms with both Microsoft and Google. If google were to take steps to convert a Microsoft phone into an android phone it could spark problems for HTC. I can bet that google needs permission from the hardware company before it would ever touch porting to it (if not only to avoid potential legal trouble) Google is better off consentrating on porting android to approved devices...

FYI - I know that Sprint is no longer issuing refurbished TP1s (as of around November of 2009). If you have insurance, and want a TP2, you can make it happen for the price of your deductible.

well i just went through three refurbished touch pro's within the last 30 days so they are still giving them out

:? Really? That is very, very strange. To be clear, are you getting these from a Sprint store repair center or via Asurion (insurance)? Do you have a TEP plan?

This was how I got my TP2 (TEP Ausrion insurance claim), but there is plenty of additional info on this subject out there:

Aside from that, and given that you've been through 3 in the last 30 days, you have more than enough solid evidence to demand better from them. You'll need to speak up for yourself, but just tell them that a another TP1 just isn't going to cut it. You tried to let them fix the problem their way, and they failed. Time for them to try something else - like getting you a TP2.

It is also possible they were just out at the time you got yours, and due to other TP's being refurbed, now they have them again. Not to mention how many TP's would they have now with a TP2 going out, and a TP coming back?

same problem but im on metro and it just wont connect, doesnt even find any CDMA networks. is ur phone fully unlocked? mine is and im thinking that might have something to do with it. one thing i noticed is that while booting, it says CDMA phone found, on the TP1 it says GSM phone found and works fine without any issues connecting to the network. funny since the sprint tp1 is cdma only lol. for some reason it looks like its not finding the cdma radio or something, and i did try all radios available

Its crazy cuz when i first did the download i made a call an it worked now i cant make any calls because of the whole no network thing. Im thinking maybe if it delete it off my card again re download it an then do the network thing before makeing any calls it may work. But im not sure.

Um, what? A bunch of new devs have hopped on. That's plenty of activity, and a good sign to boot.
