Re: [DEV] - CyanogenMod - 7.1.0 {2.3.7} - 400/500 Only

The pattern I've seen is: [DEV] - first round, for the hardcore testers. [TESTING] - most of the really nasty bits have been worked out, but there are some lurking and still some significant deficiencies. [BUILD] - ready for the masses to run/test, at this point they are trying to uncover the bugs that only get found with large scale testing. I've run FRX7.1 for over two months and it's plenty stable for every day use. |

im wondering if i should even bother with this. Nothing i do will speed this up. If im going to be working on something slow, might as well just hop on the ISC bandwagon.

IMO, A smooth running cyanogenmod7 on ANY gb kernel would be capable of thrashing any flavor of Android. I know it runs with the jitters and much is broken, but I would take the 100mb or less CM7 over a 200mb ISC build any day. I still check this thread daily. Every time something is almost done, someone else decides to start all over with newer builds. We never got one that fully worked in the first place. Maybe 12 people frequent this site these days, but 2 years later I've gotten a new phone as most others have, and was STILL psych'd as all hell to see this build show up. You CAN make it smooth, and if you make it stable, it'll be the choice for anyone looking to re-create their old TP2. I know newer kernels run newer components/code, but look in any other forum and you'll see which rom wins all. Even Miui (not a fan, but some are) is built off CM. Dont give up now buddy. Wistilt2, Jonpry, emwe, bzo, d3tule, Wozzer, 95-civic, arrrghhh, rpierce99 and all the ones i've forgotten. You've started it out and kept it going after months on the back burner. I watch you. I see you. I troll you. I would miss you. I'm sexy and I know it. "You cannn dooiitttt". My vote: CM7.1 -> Never give up. Never surrender. |

I'm still kickin' the TP2 for my daily use, and at the moment I'm using 7.1 off the SD and it runs pretty dang well. While that might not be the ultimate goal of getting things to run off NAND and all, it still is well capable and better imo than WM. The other guys I work with are floored when I show them my phone.
ICS or CM, I'll punt like I normally do and say whatever ACL and the others who are doing the actual heavy lifting of these projects think is ultimately the best route to take. ICS might be bigger bragging rights to get running, however it's done....? :> |

Between OMGB, CM7 and ICS ... I'm going to be selfish and vote for the most responsive phone experience (OMGB ?). However, if ICS is what it takes to keep you interested in supporting the device, I'd rather have you go down that path than risk being abandoned. Best regards, -boggsie |
