I only tried the GBXs that I told you about and they had the same problem.

GBX is a build, not a kernel.

Please try with a different kernel... I don't think you're on the newest one. Just a shot... Really there's not much left at this point, other than your hardware. Which - let's be honest - the camera on this phone is pretty awful. If that's the only thing you're missing, you're really not missing much...

I just follow the incremental update?

Yup. Stick to .27, newer kernels won't boot without some trickery on FRX, and they won't produce any audio.

To make things more complicated, the absolute newest .27 autobuild kernel has the new acoustic - so this kernel will also produce no audio in this build. Good luck!

I don't know what you mean by .27 these are the latest:

htc-msm-linux-20120227_213021-package.tar.bz2 is the latest .27 kernel. This will produce no audio in FRX. It appears htc-msm-linux-20111017_080427-package.tar.bz2 is the next latest .27.. which IIRC you said you're on.

So keep goin back.

Try htc-msm-linux-20111001_013904-package.tar.bz2. Or htc-msm-linux-20110930_173827-package.tar.bz2. I'm sorry that page is so confusing. GlemSom's was much, much better.... but it's been down for quite a while now, not sure if it's ever coming back. Rule of thumb for .27 kernels on that site - they don't have a kernel version, lol. I know, I know... that sucks. C'est la vie.

Cool, might have to break out my old TP2 and set aside the LG Fathom.

I like the 'pay as you go' feature of the TP2, I don't think the Fathom can do that...

What about rootfs and initrd, should I update these too and if so which ones?

Nope, I don't think they would be related to your camera issue.

I'm really surprised you're trying so hard to get the cam working... it's really not worth it IMHO.

It's worth it to me to post pictures to Facebook. it's not that bad of a camera, just has no flash :-(

It's pretty bad, but I also have a newer device to compare it to :evil4:

Ture, but newer devices can't be put on Boost pay as you go (at least not a 100% legal way :-)

OK, that didn't do the trick. I'm ready to try NAND, I just have some questions:

I saw the list of things that don't work in NAND and the only things that concern me are headphone and GPS.

Will the GPS work on NAND?
Also what is the danger of turning the phone in to an unrecoverable brick when installing NAND.

Thanks

Headphones work. GPS works (i also flashed detule's aGPS XTRA, don't know if it is necessary or not though). From what i've read, the chances of hard bricking your phone are slim to none. Give it a shot. The only drawback i've seen with it is the poor battery. It holds for like 4-5 hours with regular use. The phone might also freeze every now and then in which case you will have to remove the battery to reboot. But other than this, it's perfect.

As was stated, it's pretty difficult to really brick it. You can always flash WinMo back...

GPS works, and detule's lib helps immensely as well.

It uses a pretty similar kernel, so it would be interesting to to see if your cam worked thar.

I read the instructions or NAND and unfortunately they look like they are too advance for me :( They are intended for developers.

I wouldn't say they're intended for developers... many non-devs have done it. I would agree tho, they're not exactly simple yet - it's definitely a more advanced topic. It is still in the testing phase... But ironically the steps are quite similar to what you have to do on a native Android device - especially the part about adb and fastboot. That's pretty standard when rooting/flashing native Android devices.

I'd love to do it ,but they seem to skip some explanations becasue they assume the user will know them. Maybe you can help me with that

Please ask questions about NAND in the NAND thread. You're really derailing this thread...

One question..

I recently flashed an unlocked GSM radio for my Verizon CDMA device to use it on gsm networks.

Would I still be able to run android on top of it??

If it's an old SD card make sure you format with HP tool to fat32 first.

I was using the same phone with same SD card and still have the data image too - this was few months ago with FRX7.1 came out..

Was loving it until I bought the SGSII. Now that I gave it to my bro - am back to my good old TP2. Only diff now is - it has been security unlocked and has GSM radio (using tmo)..

I just replaced the files in SD card - deleted the data img - rebooted - it took a couple of tries and its working now.. Oh - I deleted the force_cdma = 1 from the startup..

am getting only Edge from tmo in this phone.. and it has frozen a couple of times now when i opened market.. Have to fool around a bit I guess..

Have you updated the build at all? There's probably been some changes since you last updated.

Plus, there's GBX which is working pretty well. It works with the newest kernels as well, I hear 3.2/3.3 are working quite well ;).

I just downloaded a fresh copy and it seems to be working. It does take a couple of tries to get the screen back on once its off.

yet to apply the tweaks that I used to have.. Will get to that today after work.

GBX - have to try out.. Will let you know.. Thnx.

arrrghhh, you are THE man. I'm stuck on SERO plan and have no desire to pay $50/month for a newer Android phone to convert to SERO P plan.

Thanks so much. :occasion5:

Just fired up this build on my Sprint TP2. Going to have to get myself familiar with Android.

Use your fingernail...?

Not sure. You can recalibrate the screen, but that won't really help with pressure sensitivity. Also not sure what kernel this build is running, but since FRX doesn't use the new acoustic code it'll be difficult for you to try any other kernels.

Please upgrade to GBX0C and try the newer kernels. Thanks.

Attached to the first post... Always has been.

But like I said previously, I doubt that will resolve your issue. Every screen is also slightly different, so having your own calibration file is a good idea. Once you get a good one - keep it. You won't have to create another one so long as you save it somewhere safe. Save 15 copies of it in fact ;).

You really had to post this AND PM me?!?

How 'bout you try GBX0C. It's Gingerbread.

Honestly if you're worried about apps not working you should probably look into updating your phone. Even if you had a native Android device, FroYo is an aging OS... especially in the mobile arena.
