Honeycomb?

Looks like the HC ports are getting better:

[ROM][BL1.1][BL1.2] GtabComb beta 3.0 (updated 7/10/2011) Gtablet\Zpad T2 - xda-developers

Since this one works with 1.1 bootloaders OR 1.2 BL, and I am still on 1.1, I'm gonna give it a go. Once I back everything up :)

I have to admit, I'm not crazy about the thought of rebuilding from scratch, but then that's the hazard of using your "hacking tablet" as your daily tablet too.

If I get around to doing this today, I'll post up some screenshots. Assuming I can get that to work ;)

Well... interesting. I like it. Netflix still no go, and twitcaster pro seems to have lost its mind, but otherwise... pretty nice

thx for the update,

I want netflix working on it then I can go ahead and flash.

I'm not so crazy about HC honestly, I find CM7 much more friendly.

The memory management seems to be VASTLY better vs gingerbread. Also, the android market thinks you have a tablet, and lets you install tablet specific apps.

I'm liking it a lot. Since I didn't have netflix before, I don't miss it :)

Seems to be revving fast, I'll post back if a version with netflix comes down the pike.

Maybe I'll check it out just to see. Netflix isn't necessarily a MUST but I'd like to have it.

Well when I'm mobile I can stream netflix on my HD2 just fine on my CM7 ROM or my Mango ROM (depending which OS I'm using) so the iOS is only good if you're talking iPad because 3.5" seems too small when 4.3" barely makes the cut for me.

lol, I thought so but wasn't sure if you meant WP7 or something.

My CM7.03 rom on my gTab is boss. btw you guys have to play Diversion on it, this game is freaking fun as hell on the tablet and with ad free on there it's even better.

also J I see your screenshots again, how's the video playback on your HC ROM?

Ive been using HC illuminate and when I tick n software decode in mobo player and overclock it to 1.4ghz it seems to play 720p decently...

Mobo + software decoder + 1.4ghz oc = fine for xvid/dvd encodes/tv downloaded from the web.

I'm really liking the "tablet" OS - HC makes the tablet feel a lot less like a big ass phone :)

Also, when the screen is off, the buttons on the front don't wake it up. Yay!

standby drain with wifi set to never sleep is a bit higher than under vegantab ginger - that ran as low as 120mA, up to 132... this runs 145-150. About 24 hours standby on a full charge.

Still fine for a full day of actual use (3-6 hours of on time) plus 12+ hours standby... or recharge nightly... about the same as before.

From what I heard its not up to Nvidia...Viewsonic has to request them..if they don't request them Nvidia won't publish them....

View Sonic promised some sort of update in may and has yet to deliver...

Personally I'd be happy if we even got gingerbread drivers...with them we can have hardware decode + dual core support!!!

Fixed this - it's the dreaded "Calkulin's battery saving script" - which does nothing but endlessly loop in the background on a 1 second sleep if you have setcpu installed. Why it doesn't just exit I'll never know.

Anyway, killing that, standby dropped to 130mA (this is "live" standby, wifi on, gets email, etc...) which is 28 hours of standby, pretty much just like Gingerbread if you keep it from going into deep sleep.

So, a week in with teh honeycomb... definitely like it. Tab seems more consistent performance-wise, email client much better... for the way I use it, it's been a winner.

You know, for a cheap crappy tablet, the gtab is pretty nice :)

If they would have put in a better lcd, put in a gps and load up honeycomb..at 250$-300$ they could have outsold all the competition :/

Been at the beach for the past week, but while there a version of Neflix that works under Honeycomb on this rom came out... so I was watching a little netflix while winding down on the deck at the beach :)

Nice. Could you point us toward the ROM you're on and the version of Netflix that works with it?

It's in the first post of this topic. The version of netflix was posted to that thread, but I think it's just the latest from the market (which now works with HC roms)

Re: Honeycomb?

And there is a 3.3 release out in the past day that dramatically improves battery life/performance.

It's really becoming quite nice :)

Re: Honeycomb?

I'm on the 3.3 and it really is great.
