Development issues

Alright, so Ive been trying to get into developing.
not roms or anything that drastic, but I am working on themes.

I have a good start, Zone23 has been helping me out alot so far, but I still have some issues.

I have apk manager 4.9, and it works well, but cant recompile anything if I edit a patch nine image.

I have the latest sdk, but when I run the sdk manager and try to run the updates for the 2.3.3 tools, it freezes on 5% on the following itmes...

-Dual Screen APIs by KYOCERA Corp

-EDK 1.2 by Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications

and then when i try to install...

-Google API's by Google Inc.

...it tells me access denied.

Zone had told me that they are not necissary, and that I can use java eclipse to work the patch nine images.

I have eclipse installed running fine, but it also wants to install the sdk items and doesnt install the same items.
That being said, I cant run the android emulator...

Does this affect my ability to work on the patch nine?
What are my options here?

And how might I be able to install these items since my computer doesnt want them apearently?

I figured out the patch nine images..

Still cant install the missing packages though..

Im pretty sure I figured out most of my issues...

Sorry... I just don't think many people know about what you are trying to do there aedon. I am glad you are getting it figured out though! Nice!

Ya.. I but ya know seeing as how everything is pretty much android now days you'd think someone would offer some advise

You don't need eclipse to modify the file. there's tools at xda that you can download to tweak the apk file for theme try this here [Windows XP/VISTA/7][UTILITY][TOOL] APK Multi-Tool - xda-developers this is the updated version from what you have, it was updated form another dev.

As I've said I have figured out the apk issues. My problem now is that i cannot download and install sdk upgrade packages
