Android Malware is out there
FT.com / Technology - Android users hit by malware attacks
This is serious malware and not just errant programs. We rooted users have to be especially cautious since we run with Signature Checking off and permissions wide open. I was waiting for this to happen and it finally has. If there is a positive side, this may accelerate the release of Gingerbread. The downside may be the closure of the exploit that we use to root our phones. |

Re: Android Malware is out there
don't know if it's the best but i use lookout from the market, and it's free, can't see any ill effects like slowing the phone down or anything, and it shows on the taskbar when it's scanned a file that you downloaded.

Re: Android Malware is out there
On the Epic a few devs already patched the exploit :/
should work on other phones too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=977154 |

Re: Android Malware is out there
My phone isn't rooted (yet) because I want to make the most of my warranty. Here's another reason. I hope this doesn't happen on Gingerbread, too.

Windows gets attacked because of its high marketshare of 90% not because its windows. Every os can be hacked easily and so will be android and ios because of their 50% of marketshare. |
Re: Android Malware is out there
As of 2022 I have found Norton 360 and Avast run well on Android for protection.
