Is there a way to get Swype legitimately?
 

Is there a proper way to get Swype yet?? I will pay 5$ for easily if I have to, I just cant stand not having this thing... With the beta having been closed I have been missing it sorely...

I was free to sign up for the beta. I'm not sure if this is still open. I have an account and get the updates.

if your on a evo then i can help ya, heres directions and this ones green skinned. theres also a droid red one but i forgot which is which.
1. Go to Settings.
2. Press ‘Language and Keyboard’.
3. Check the box next to ‘Swype’. Accept the message that pops up.
4. Open any text input field. Quick way is to press the search button on your phone (if it’s a Google phone).
5. Long-press on the input box.
6. Select ‘Input Method’ from the popup.
7. Select ‘Swype’ from the choices given to you.
8. Swype away!

Well, there had been licensing issues but what darren posted is the apk that you need.

Thanks for the post darren. Able to install, but wouldn't swype. Trial ended. I do like the keyboard though.
