DSP Manager Equalizer for Android 2.2

4 Attachment(s)
Updated: Oct 8, 2010
A stand alone equalizer. It works by default for all sounds and can be disabled, if desired. This version allows independent equalizer for the headset, speaker, and bluetooth. Some ROMs include DSP Manager…CM6 and Calkulin for example. I am not the DSP Manager dev…just making it available for those who would like to have this great tool and want to try it.

You must be Rooted…Make a Nand Backup before flashing…I’m not responsible for problems. It should work on any 2.2 ROMs…YMMV

- No routine uninstall of just the app much like themes...nand restore if you must remove. You can also uncheck enable compression and equalizer and be at stock settings.
- Don’t get carried away…could have clipping, especially with the tiny phone speaker
- When enabled and sitting in "background" services doesn't look like it uses any resources (battery)

Flash like ROM, kernel, theme, etc. Suggest you may want to wipe cache and dalvik cache. If you have an older version of DSP my test indicates you can flash this over the old one and it will update it.

The version I have from the CM6 stable rom is a bit diffrent visually. The version the OP posted actualy looks like an older version that was put in the RC2 for CM6. Am I wrong? Or is this an open source App that CM has modifired for his liking?

Yes, CM cooked in newest version...this is best stand alone I found and is an older version.

Need newest source code put into a flashable zip...I've asked a ROM dev if he would do...I'll post up if I get it.

Just like a 5 band graphic equalizer for stereo but for EVO headset and/or speaker. It works in background for any program that puts out sound...once you enable it then it's applied universally. You adjust the settings and can turn off if desired.

Here is the latest DSP.APK its just pulled from the CM6 Rom and zipped. Pull it out and install it using astro, root explorer or one of the many other options.

Doesn't look like it has the library files which are required to work as stand alone...appears to be an update...believe by itself it will load icon, etc. and open but no equalizer settings...not sure yet.

I'm testing with another version separate from one posted above. UPDATE: Newer versions update program, even add bluetooth, but you no longer will have the simple slider adjustments for each band and instead will have to do on the equalizer chart which is very touchy-tricky.

Can this make headset volume louder?

Boosting equalizer settings make it "sound" louder but there is no gain setting to actually adjust overall.

Thanks for trying to help out...you may want to edit your first post and remove the link-file...someone may try and get stuck.

Any news on an updated version with bluetooth capability for flashing? I've seen it on a ROM or two but was not really wanting to flash to them yet, just looking to add this to my current one.

Should work. Possible corrupted-incomplete download...make sure you use the one from the first page post. Also, just to make sure wipe cache and dalvik before flashing?

It's possible your download of the DSP zip file from the first post wasn't complete...download again just to make sure. Assume you are flashing the zip file from a custom recovery (Clockwork or Amon RA). Before you flash the file do a wipe of the cache and the dalvik cache. OR are you trying to flash the file from ROM Manager?

I'll try downloading again, I'm just not sure about the cache and dalvik cache. I use ROM Manager, and I see clear download cache, is that what we're talking about here?

Transfer the downloaded zip file to your SD card. Then open ROM Manager and select Backup Current ROM...just in case something goes wrong.

Then in ROM Manager select Reboot into Recovery. Once there select wipe, then wipe cache, then select advanced, then wipe dalvik. After that select believe its file from SD card and select DSPManager.zip After its flashed select reboot.

Not sure what it could be...maybe reflash the zip.

Pretty much individual preference...Enabled compression, equalizer, virtual headset which is set for studio. Also boosted the two low frequencies +3db and +2db to get more bass out of my headphones.
