Roam Control App to control Sprint Roaming
 

Just and FYI..i have been looking for this since I got my EVO. I have terrible service at work and I loved the Roam only feature on my old Winmo phone. Well I have been monitoring a thread over at XDA and finally I found this.

I installed it on both my EVO's and it works great...I don't even have to reboot when I change from Home to Roam and back.
FYI I am running Fresh 3.2.0 on both phones and of course you must be rooted. Just thought I'd share

Awesome! Thanks! :) Like you, I have a few areas where I need to force one mode or the other and have wanted a way to change quickly. Some people may complain about the $4 charge, but I think it's totally worth it for as often as I anticipate using it.

Aw, I need this but I'm not rooted. Is there a backup program to make rooting less terrible?

What kind of phone? Just root real quick and it will be better.

I'm sorry, but before you go through all that trouble, please be aware that the app currently doesn't support the Epic or the Moment. (Highlighted so you don't miss it, I don't want you to re-do everything and then find out the app doesn't work)

There is something different about the Samsung phones that makes forcing roam even more difficult. Wait for an update that (hopefully) supports the Samsung phones.

Maybe I missed something, but it doesn't work for me. When I switch to Roam, I get the X over the signal bars, like I am in airplane mode. I already uninstalled and got a refund, so now if I try it again, it's non-refundable.

Any ideas? Anybody have the same problem?

Yeah..sometimes it takes 10-30 seconds before it switches to roam. during that time it will have an x over the signal bars...i have had this x over my bars for up to 30 seconds but it normally switches in about 10 seconds....just have to be patient and wait for the triangle.

Updated my PRL and it seems to be working. I have a tiny "R" above the signal bars.

So I see that this now works for the Epic, I'm trying to download it but I can't find it in the market, and the barcode scanner/app brain return nothing. I'd really like to have this, any advice?

I eventually got it working through AppBrain, having it install it. It doesn't show up in the market for me, apparently it has something to do with being protected.
