Google Voice voicemail issue

I am trying to set up Google voice voicemail to only send calls made to my Google Voice phone number to the Google voicemail (if I don't answer the call). I want to use my Sprint voicemail if someone calls my cell phone number (just as before), and my Google voicemail if someone calls the Google number.

The Google number has an area code where I live, and I intend to use it for a different business venture. The Sprint number is for an area code where my primary business is. I want that Sprint number and it's voicemail to work as before, and for the Google voicemail to have an entirely different message, aimed at an entirely different market.

Can this be done?

Yes, that is how Google Voice works by default.

Is there any way to change it, or a workaround? What about uninstalling it from the phone, but still leaving the settings to notify you by email, and just use it as a voicemail only?

I did not have Google voice on my phone at first. You dont have to install it. It will work just as you described. It will just send an email or sms of the voicemail and should transcribe it for you.

If you want to send all calls for GV number to the GV voicemail automatically, enable "Do Not Disturb" in your call settings on the GV website.

I understand that. My issue is that I want both the calls to the Google number, and the calls directly to my cell phone, to go to their own respective voicemails if I don't answer. If I don't answer a call made to the Google number, it goes to that voicemail. If I don't answer a call made directly to my cell number, my Sprint voicemail gets it.

Google voice does this already by default. The GV calls, if unanswered, go to your GV mailbox (that is the only place they can be delivered). The calls that are dialed in directly to your Sprint phone are untouched and go to the sprint voicemail. The only exception would be if you did the optional activation of the Google voice voicemail for your Sprint phone (I believe it is considered "no answer call forwarding". It is enabled by dialing *28 followed by the number you want to forward it to). If you did that, then you can disable it by disabling the call forwarding through sprint. I believe it is *38 to disable the call forwarding. Hope this helps.

Bingo, and thanks, that did the trick. One code they had me enter started with *28, and that caused the forwarding. The only thing I have to watch for is that if I don't want to answer an inbound call from the Google number, I have to NOT hit decline from my phone, or it will go to my Sprint voicemail. Otherwise, it goes to the Google voicemail, and calls made directly to the Evo go to the Sprint email.

Thanks again.....
